Hi guys,
I was born in Rome Italy,in 1974 to a nigerian family, when my dad was a diplomat with the Nigerian embassy in Rome.Unfortunately,my dad was transfered elsewhere when iwas still infant.so,e did not obtain my italian citizen passport, but i still have my original italian birth certificate confirming my place of birth.I have been to the italian embassy in Lagosbut was told i am not eligible.I know that according to EU immigration Laws,i am an italian citizen by birth.I am now marriedand considering migrating to Europe with my husband. Please,i need your help.i know it is my fundamental human right.you can include any useful info &adresssuch as italian home office address in Rome in your reply.

you are mistaken, children of foreign dimplomats are never considered eligible for citizenship in any country. Anyway, the only country in EU where a child of 2 resident (non-diplomats) foreigners can become a citizen is Ireland.

Witt is right.

Most countries around the world have long ago changed their citizenship laws to exclude people born in the country to parents who are not citizens or at least permanent residents themselves.

well it sounds like you should talk to the lawyer that handled your friends case rather than here!

He said his friend had the same problem as him, and was successful - he's trying to get to the UK as well, on an Italian passport.
