Hi,

I am writing to enquire about schengan visa (European countries). I am an international software engineering student from UK University and I am on a UK student visa. I am currently in my final year of the course and interested in working for European IT companies once I graduate (June 2003).

I will be applying for jobs to many companies throughout Europe this year. I
feel if I hold a schengan visa beforehand (visitor visa) for a year, it would be better for me and the employer(in the future) to ease the process to conduct interviews - just to avoid the hassle to go through the whole process of applying visitor visa for every employer again and again, who may be in different parts of Europe.

Is there any possibilities I could do this by myself without a sponsorship ? Is visitor visa the right one for attending interviews? Can I get a visitor visa for a year (or whatever the maximum period) ? If so, how do I go about in getting one ?

I look forward to your advise.

Thank you.

Jai

You have to contact the consulate (in London) of one of the countries you are going to visit or the country where you will travel first. This is probably going to be France?. Then apply for a Schengen visa to that consulate and the first time you travel to Europe, it is advisable to travel via the country that granted you the visa. The maximum I have been able to obtain has been 6 months. I hope this helps
