In June 2001 I moved to the UK to open their UK subsidiary and came here with a SOle Representative Visa. Now if I want to go back and apply for Permanent Residence (company is ready to pay EUR 80,00 per annum), do I have any chance or will they say that since I have not been in the country for 1 1/2 yrs (have been coming into the country every 4-5 months for 3-4 days stay) I should not even have the Green Card!?! Awaiting your advice. Thanks!!
Marcis Member Member # 4	Posted November 07, 2002 04:02 PM Hi Jackal, Unfortunately, as you have been out of the country for one and a half year, your German Green Card would have become invalid during that time, and these years will not count towards permanent residence. However, if you can wait until 1 January 2003, you might be able to apply for permanent residency under the "highly skilled employee" category then, as the new German immigration act will come into force. Hello Marcis,

Hi Jackal,

Unfortunately, as you have been out of the country for one and a half year, your German Green Card would have become invalid during that time, and these years will not count towards permanent residence.

However, if you can wait until 1 January 2003, you might be able to apply for permanent residency under the "highly skilled employee" category then, as the new German immigration act will come into force.
