Ciao,

I am living in Italy and planning to marry my Italian girlfriend. I have a non-EU passport and I would like to know something about the Italian Law regarding marriages, specially, I would like to know how long it takes to be able to apply for the passport and how long (as an average) it would take from the day a marry till I get the passport?

Thank you for any help1

I have heard (from an unofficial source) that the Italian citizenship law No. 123/1983 states that a non-EU citizen married with an Italian and living in Italy has the right to apply for Italian citizenship after six months of the marriage. However the person did not know how long it takes from the time the allien asks for citizenship to the time the allien gets the passport.
