Hello All,

I am a Canadian of European descent. I am looking into possibly acquiring EU citizenship through my European ancestry. My father is Greek and my mother is Dutch (they emigrated from Europe in the late 50's - 60's).

What would my best option be? I know that I can obtain Greek citizenship, but their conscription laws is a severe barrier to chosing that route. Am I being needlessly paranoid?

Also, is it possible for me to become a Dutch citizen? I know they changed the law in 1984, and it had something to do with mother/father bloodlines, but I don't know anymore. I was born in 1982 if that matters.

Any information (specifically dealing with the status of Greek conscription laws and Dutch immigration through lineage) would be of great help. Thanks!
