Hi,

I would like to make an application for immigration as a skilled individual and think i will pass the point test. However my girlfriend (who is an Australian National) is hoping to return to Oz earlier than the 6-12 month application process.

Does anyone know wether it is possible to make an application for a working holiday visa and then for immigration whilst in Oz?

Hi Aggy

Unfortunately, no, this is not possible. You need to begin the process of skilled immigration from your home country. HOWEVER, you are allowed to travel to Australia whilst the application is being processed, although you must be OUTSIDE Australia when the visa is granted.

Please let me know if we can assist you with your application!

Best regards

Elfa

Thanks Elfa,

Does this mean that i can begin the application process from within the UK and then also apply for a working holiday visa, or just that after making the application I can travel to Australia on a normal holiday visa?

Also, If you must be outside of Australia when the application is granted, do you know when this will occur so as to leave the country for that time?

I'm not an immigration specialist etc, but it's always better to ask the embassy, because they stress that you can travel to australia while your application is processed, but you have to check with them if it does not cancel your application - because last visa granted is the visa you have and it cancels all previous visas.

they also have lots of info on www.immi.gov.au
