Hi Elfa,

I just want to ask if there are advantage and disadvantages now that PR Applications are now processed centrally in Adelaide? Like processing times and chances that a PR application will be approved when you are outside of Australia?

Thanks.

Hi

Thanks for posting. In my short experience since they began processing skilled apps in Adelaide (since November 1, 2001) I have found that the visa officers there have been rather efficient and helpful, especially for IT applications. Centralisation of application processing is beneficial to all skilled applicants in many ways, and not just to IT Professionals. This means that candidates' applications from all around the world will have similar processing times, will only need to deal with one institution (besides the assessing authorities, of course) and will get fair treatment. The PR application must still be approved whilst you are outside of Australia (at least under the General Skilled - Independent category) but I believe the process will now become more streamlined and easier to understand.

Hope this clarifies things for you!

BEst regards

Elfa
