sandor Junior Member Member # 946 | Posted January 23, 2002 04:12 PM I am just about to finish my IT studies in Sydney (post-secondary, Kent Institute), but I have no work experience. I would like to immigrate to Australia, and as far as I know if I finish my studies here I don't have to have any work experience to stay. Apart from work experience I have enough points to pass (over 110). Could you tell me whether it is true, or not? Thanks very much your help. Sandor |
Elfa Member Member # 5 | Posted January 24, 2002 04:04 PM Hi Sandor This is correct - if you have completed an Australian qualification less than 6 months prior to lodging your visa application you do not need to meet the recent work experience requirement. You must meet all other basic requirements and hold a suitable skills assessment for your nominated occupation (worth 60 points), be a holder of a Student visa, and meet other requirements for eligible overseas students in Australia. Hope this clarifies matters for you! All the best Elfa -------------------- Elfa Kere, Consultant |
Yilmazsoy Junior Member Member # 32 | Posted February 02, 2002 09:51 PM Is postgraduate study counted as work experience. I have a BSc in computer science from Turkey and an MSc in management science from UK but no work experience. Am I eligible to make an application? |
Elfa Member Member # 5 | Posted February 08, 2002 02:46 PM Hi Baris I think I covered this topic in your assessment privately but to reiterate, you must have at least one year of full-time work experience in a skilled occupation before being eligible to apply. Hope this clarifies matters. Regards Elfa -------------------- Elfa Kere, Consultant |
