Our Lawyer Is Insisting on Photo IDs

Post by Samson87 » Thu Jan 10, 2019 6:26 pm

Hello,

We are about to apply for a Residence Card. My wife is non-EEA, I am British. We have hired a lawyer who has asked a number of things that confused us.

First, our lawyer said that we should both have an EHIC even though I told them we have private health insurance in Ireland. Should we get these cards?

Second, they have told us to get letters from people in our town to verify our status and relationship. But to also take a photograph of their ID so the Home Office doesn't dismiss the letters. Is this normal? Would IDs and letters not also be seen as calculated intent to move to the UK?

Our lawyer also wants proof of registration with a GP and dentist, but we haven't, thank goodness, needed them in Ireland, and just relied on simply being signed up to private healthcare. Would it not look suspicious if we suddenly signed up with them before moving?

Thank you for your help!

How long have you resided in Ireland?

How have you exercised treaty rights in Ireland?

What proof of having moved the centre of your life to Ireland have you submitted?
I am not a lawyer or immigration advisor. My statements/comments do not constitute legal advice. E&OE. Please do not PM me for advice.

Annoyingly, this is a second username that has been registered with the same line of questions.

Hi Simon,

We have resided in Ireland for two years. I have been self-employed with an online American company, who have paid my wages into an Irish bank account jointly held between me and my wife. At the tope of my head, we have proof of long-term (multiple 12-month rental agreements), a contract with Eir, 2 years of bank statements, and both have PPS numbers. We also have library cards and VHI insurance cards. My wife is not currently seeking employment, but has proof she has worked in Ireland. We both have had private healthcare in Ireland for 2 years.
