Parents - Depandants

Post by rpksngk » Mon Nov 24, 2014 10:12 am

Hi,

I came to know from one of my friends about this excellent forum. I would like to take your advice/guidance or your experience if you had in a similar situation. Appreciate very much if you could share it. I tried to find the answers on the forum but could not find the right ones.

I'm a naturalised British citizen. Following are my queries.

i) Is it possible to bring my dependant parents (Father and Mother) permanently to the UK to live with me? They are alone back in my remote native place. I want to bring them here and take care of them. What is the procedure to do this?

ii) Assuming it is possible, can my Father work in the UK? (it would be in teaching field). The reason I’m asking this is, my Father is a retired College Lecturer, and he wants to do some work instead of sitting ideal at home. I believe you might have been in a similar situation where the parent(s) get board after few weeks of coming over here..

Appreciate very much for your advice on these queries or point me to the existing answers.

Many thanks.

Virtually impossible category and expensive with only roughly 3/4 approvals that we are aware of since the rules changed in July 2012. If you apply and are refused, it will also rule out any future visitor visa applications as their intention to settle in the UK will be known.

Coming to be cared for - you’re an adult dependent relative

You must be dependent on a parent, grandchild, brother, sister, son or daughter of someone living permanently in the UK.

You must prove that:

you need long-term care to do everyday personal and household tasks
the care you need is not available or affordable in the country you live in
the person you’ll be joining in the UK will be able to support, accommodate and care for you without claiming public funds for at least 5 years
you’re 18 or over

Thank you very much CR001, Wanderer. Sorry for the delayed reply, I was travelling.

Yes Wanderer, later I was able find details about Family visit visa and the benefits of it. Thanks to this great forum. But couldn't get profound information about the dependent visa for parents and the possibility to work here. Now it's clarified, thanks once again.
