It is not private it is group ceremony. I called the council when I got the letter this morning from HO and they booked the ceremony for Thursday and sent me the confirmation by e-mail.

Is the envelope sent by recorded post? Also is it a large envelope, or is it of a similar size to the acknowledgment letter (i have a small postbox!)?

And does the council always send you a separate letter confirming the decision?

Thank you and good luck to everyone.
In my case (approved 2 weeks ago):

1. The brown envelope was not large (1/2 sheet of paper size), Royal Mail second class
2. I was expected to call the council myself, which I did, and then they sent me an invitation
Thank you for the response sogy. In that case I shouldn't have any problems if its 1/2 sheet of paper but I'm surprised that I haven't received the approval after more than 3 month since I applied.

I will call the HO to see what is happening with my application.

Eligibility criteria: 2 Years HSMP + 3 years Tier 1 + 1 year ILR
Language criteria met : LIUK + IELTS for HSMP (the lady at NCS first said my IELTS certificate is not valid since it's not on her list and that she'll confirm with her colleagues and let me know if it's a problem, never heard back so assumed it was fine)
Method of application: NCS
Date of application: 15/04/2014
Payment method: Credit card (Bank blocked my transaction since it was "suspect", so I had to phone up and make another payment once I realised what had happened)
Date of receipt by UKBA: 17/04/2014
Date of acknowledgement: 29/04/2014
Date of debit or clearance of fees: 01/05/2014
Date approval received: WAITING
Date of ceremony: WAITING

I phoned to get a progress update on Friday (13th of June) and they weren't able to help me, but phoned back Saturday morning to let me know my application is under consideration.
So I phoned the HO again since it's now around 76 days and no news yet. Apparently my application is still with the unit doing the referencing checking and only after that it will be assigned to a case worker :? !!! From what I understand from the guy on the phone my application is with a group that's busy and as a result have a backlog and that's why people who have applied later already have heard back from them, not so sure how true that is, but it's rather annoying to see other people getting their feedback already.
Latest update - "still in progress" so still WAITING..........

I called the 0300 number but when they realized that I had only applied in April, the person on the phone was very quick to dismiss me saying that the waiting time was 6 months...

Congratulations nlgindia.

From all the comments across this forum I had the impression that the home office had stopped sending any approvals unless the application was near 6 month mark.

Would be great if you could tell us what date the approval letter you received is from.

Does anyone have any advice for me please? I'm about to lose my mind....Grrrrrrrr

Sorry about your situation.. you can travel free till naturalization approval letter arrives.. you can call NCS regularly and see when the letter is arriving.. Also I heard that you can book ceremony with in 90 days from the time Approval letter arrives.. so meaning you have 90 plus days and this waiting time in your hand.. U can go to US and come back during this period..

Thank you very much for your post, I understand all of that and I was already aware however i've been waiting for so long and now for me to apply for a visa using my own passport @ USA embassy can take up to 90 days as well let alone the time to apply for a new Brazilian passport as my old one expired in June. as you see my situation is bound to drive me insane... £906.00 more than 100 days later and not even the cortesy to expedite my application which would save me the hassle and time to acquire a usa visa.... I'm a civil servant as well and i understand that we are understaffed however when someone paid that much money and is already waiting for almost 4 months and is facing a family emergency they could have a little bit of compassion... :-(
