I called them on 18th december 2014 but the guy took my reference number and told me it is still under consideration.

What i feel that they deal quickly single application. For two or more applications they are bit lazy in doing it.

You are a bit optimistic! if your application is subjecting to more rigorous scrutiny.

i called up home office and they said they have already taken decision on 16th Dec and sent letter. They adviced me to call back next week if i still don't receive letter.

Anybody suffered similar problem of not receiving approval letter? Do they send duplicate letter? It seems to me that i will miss 3 weeks date.

HI GUYS,

I NEED SOME URGENT ADVICE. I HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED MY APPROVAL FOR NATURALISTION. I HAVE THE CEREMONY BOOKED FOR THE 13TH JANUARY 2015. MY PROBLEM IS THAT I HAVE ALREADY GOT TRAVEL PLANS ON THE 20TH JAN 2015. I AM INDIAN AND INDIA DOES NOT HAVE DUAL NATIONALITY AS YOU MUST ALL KNOW.

MY QUERY IS, CAN I STILL ATTEND THE CEREMONY AND THEN TRAVEL ON MY INDIAN PASSPORT AFTER THE CEREMONY AND APPLY FOR BRITISH PASSPORT ONCE I AM BACK? OR WILL I HAVE ISSUES AT THE BORDER?

I DO HAVE TIME UNTIL 16TH MARCH TO GET THE CEREMONY DONE BUT I AM BACK ON THE 2ND MARCH AND THAT LEAVES A VERY TIGHT DEADLINE AND I MAY NEED TO OVERSTAY IN INDIA FOR CERTAIN REASONS AND MAY NOT BE BACK BY 16TH MARCH 2015.

WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS. PLEASE ADVICE ME. REALLY NEED TO KNOW.

THANKS, REALLY APPRECIATE. REGARDS

If India does not allow dual nationality then how will you be able to travel into India if you are already naturalised as a British citizen?

As you have not attended the ceremony you are still naturalised as a British citizen.

Your best bet would be to contact the Indian embassy and query this with them as they may refuse you entry.

Vastly optimistic. A number of people here applied in April, May and June and are still waiting. I applied in June and it was a single application. Don't waste your time and efforts to chase them before the six month deadline is over.

Hmm, i would advice you put your mind away from it as it is luck to get your application decided early or late, i applied in july and my application is a straight forward and single application, but am yet to hear from them as we all know its a waiting game lol

Good luck in waiting.

Ur right. Some people get approval in few week, some in few months but it might take more than six months, like the way me and some other people waiting for their decision. So I'll advice you to be prepared for six months wait. If you get it early thats ur good luck.

Re:when can i apply for british citizenship after ilr

Post by yellowand23 » Tue Jan 06, 2015 6:30 pm

Dear all,

I have obtained ILR on 26 Feb 2014 based on 10 years continuous residency. The ILR application acknowledgment letter from the HO was on 2 Oct 2013. Can I apply for naturalisation in Jan 2015? I have read somewhere in the forum that It is possible but I am not able to locate the HO documentation to back up regarding the above?

I would be grateful if you could assist in this matter.

The date in your Biometric residence permit card is the start of your ILR so if its 26/02/14 you can apply AFTER 26/02/15 as you need to hold it for 12 months.

Date of receipt of acknowledgement: 05 Jan 2015
Date of receipt of approval: Still Waiting

Update:
Received letter with application form from HO on 05 Jan 2015 stating that, the 5 years eligibility criteria is calculated back from the day the application is received (i.e. 11 Dec 2014 to 11 Dec 2009) so the fact that I have stayed continuously in this country for 10 years is irrelevant. I was out of the country on 11 Dec 2009 and returned on 05 Jan 2010 so I have to re-sign my application form and submit after 05 Jan 2015 (before 02 Feb 2015) which I have done. Whew!!! I never knew that was the case though.

It's in the Naturalization booklet, dude :)
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... c_2014.pdf
Page 5.
The residence requirements:
1. You must have been physically present in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands on the day 5 years before the application is received by the Home Office. For example if your application is received on 20/1/2010 you should have been physically present in the United Kingdom on 21/1/2005.

That is why you should have used NCS. This is one of the things they check before sending your application.

Not all the time! You can see so many examples when NCS staff have no idea what to do
