Thanks for your prompt reply, another query, do they need marriage certificate and birth certificate either copy or original ? Also I am living in Manchester, Can I apply through post at HCI London instead of Birmigham?

Krisbal,

Can I please check that when you say "Passport Received by HCI London", was this acknowledged on the Status Enquiry Website or is this just a guess based on Royal Mail delivery dates.

I sent my passport via special delivery on the 7 Jan and as per royal mail website it got delivered on the 9 Jan in the morning. This has not been reflected on the official OCI status enquiry website, so wandering if it was the same for you. Thanks

No idea, but I believe Birmigham is always late, possibly they might be going through London office or they are Lazy

By the way how do you check the status, Is it the UK Passpot number and your online application GBRBxxxxxxx Reference ? to get new reference number by HCI for your Application.

I used the Passport Number and Online Registration No . You can still check using the Passport Number and File (Acknowledgment) No.

I am getting No such record found. It looks like they have not yet entered in the system as they have received the application by post yesterday only.

How did you get the Acknowledgement, is it just putting up your online GBRLxxxxx number and UK passport number on status enquiry site or did you get any file reference number by post.

Yes I just entered the GBRLxxxxx number & Passport number and I got the details on the website.
I have just received my original documents but haven't received any file reference number or acknowledgement by post yet.

Hopefully I will get it on Monday...

1. Copy of Full Birth Certificate.
2. Copy of the UK passport.

I am making an join application so will the child still need this additional parent's Indian cancelled passport's also?
Another query is does all the copies need to be self attested?

Docs Submitted:

Only the original of Surrender Certificate was checked at the window. They said that it is taking max of 6 weeks these days.

Anyone in this forum who applied for OCI with a non UK Passport? Its been more than 3 months since I applied and have been told that they are awaiting a clearance certificate from the the authority who issued my foriegn passport (in this case it is France).

Is this the normal procedure? Any inputs is greatly appreciated.

Sorry, my child is India Born, possibly for UK born, they might need UK birth certificate.
Not sure (I have not read about UK born child) but my guess is yes (Please verify as this is my guess), child still need additional parent 's Indian cancelled passport first and last page self attested copy only.

I booked an appointment for 10:00 on 20th Jan. i reached there on time and they called my name exactly at 10:00. it took only 5 min for the whole process. i was out of the high commission by 10:15.
The whole process was very smooth. Kudos to the Indian High Commission.
