OCI for 2nd child - What docs to take?

Post by kopper » Sat Mar 28, 2015 5:48 pm

Hi
My wife and I have OCIs and so does my daughter. Our new baby now requires a OCI and has also a British passport.

The question is which documents do we need to take with us for applying for OCI for the baby only?

As existing OCI holders, can we take just the following?

- Baby's Uk passport, photos and Full birth certificate
- Parents UK passports and OCI cards

Thanks

Did you eventually apply for your new baby's OCI ?

We are in the same situation and would like to know the procedure and docs required.

Could you share please ?

Yes have applied without any issues and waiting for it to be processed.
Just take the docs i have mentioned to your local VFS after booking online.

Despite many people saying you need to take 2 copies of everything, they only asked for the originals and ONE photocopy.
Theres no need to attach a photo on a 2nd form as they will accept the original form with photo and just an extra photo.

They didnt keep mine and my son's passports but kept the photocopies and took the child's original FULL Birth certificate and my OCI card which was sent back in a special delivery envelope a week later (extra cost).

Thanks for your reply.
We applied with the docs you mentioned and was very straight forward. They didnt keep any originals in our case.

Though another visit is essential for oci collection, with HCI, we could post our possports and they would return the stamped passports back :-(

here is the reply from vfs about OCI colleciton -

Applicant can check the status of their application Online.

Applicants are required to check the status online and when status shows OCI received in London/Birmingham/Edinburgh on a particular date, the following documents must be submitted (without appointment) to the India Visa and Consular Services Application Centre, where original application was submitted for OCI.

· Acknowledgement receipt of the application.

· Printout of on-line status report.

· British/Foreign Passport in original.

· PIO Card holders should send the Original PIO Card for Cancellation.

· For transfer of OCI visa from old to the new passport: Please send old passport and OCI Visa Card for cancellation and New British/Foreign Passport for affixing new OCI Visa on that.

· Self - addressed Special Delivery envelope to return the Passport with OCI Card OR you can use the courier service offered at the centre.
