Here is the timeline for my daughter's passport:

Passport for: 1 child
Application Type: New (Registered Citizen)
Method of application: Online
Date of application: 22nd April 2015
Date Declaration and Documents Received by the Passport Office: 24th April 2015
Date of SMS received: 28th April (Your Passport is being printed.)
Date of return of documents: Waiting
Date of Passport Receipt: Waiting

This was very fast only 2 working days from them receiving the Declaration Form until they sent SMS saying they are printing the passport.

Just thought I'd update you on my experience

Application type: First adult passport (Naturalised Citizen)
Method of application: sent form by post with a first class stamp
Date of application: 07/04/15
Payment method: credit card, payment was taken from credit card on the 14/04/15
Royal mail delivery confirmation: 14/04/15
SMS confirming receipt by IPS: NA - never actually received a text. Ended up ringing up on the 13th to check on the progress of my application as I was worried it may have gotten lost in the post. Was told by the progress department it had been received on the 10th and was already in IAB.
Date of return of documents: 17/04/15 but dated the 14th
Date of receipt of interview letter: 18/04
Date of Passport Appointment: 22/04
Date of Passport printing sms receipt: 23/04 at 9:00am
Date of Passport Receipt: NA

Still no sign of passport. I was told when I went for my interview that it probably wouldn't be printed until Friday / Saturday and to not expect it to arrive until the middle of this week, however it was printed the morning after my interview so I was expecting it to have arrived by now. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it arrives by tomorrow, if not I may ring just to check on it's progress.

Hi everyone,
I applied for a British Passport on the 20th, Passport office got my application on the 21st and I got my documents back on the 26th but till today I have not received any letter for interview, is this normal or should I call them on it. Any advice would be wonderful. Cheers.

Date of SMS received stating application was received: 13th April
Date of receipt of interview letter: 17th April, letter dated 16th April
Date of Passport Appointment: 22nd April (London Victoria)
Date of passport printed SMS received: 23rd April
Date of return of documents to work: 27th April. Received DX delivery card dated 23/4 to reschedule delivery to work address
Date of Passport Receipt: 29th April. Received delivery card dated 27/4 to reschedule delivery to work address

Whole process took approximately 26 days, almost 4 weeks, bit longer than some folks here. Very happy with the service.

My journey ends here and am glad to never have to pay ludicrous government/visa application fees anymore.

Is anyone else having issues with the DX passport delivery service? Up until now the process has been smooth but now its starting to turn into a nightmare!
Interview was last wednesday (22nd) and received a text to say it was being printed the next morning and it would be delivered within the next few working days (23rd). Became concerned when it reached wednesday this week and it still had not arrived so I rang the passport office who told me to ring DX. DX gave me a reference number and told me the delivery was scheduled for today. As of now, passport is still yet to arrive, and after just getting off the phone to them I'm being told that it's scheduled for today and theres no reason it couldn't come as late as 8pm, but if no sign by 7, to ring and schedule a re delivery.
Getting a bit frustrated now because surely the delivery process is supposed to be the easiest thing!

I struggle to understand the benefit of the passport interview. If an applicant comes from a country that does not allow dual nationality (e.g. India), then their Indian citizenship is void from the moment they complete the British Ceremony. At some point they'll need to give the applicant a passport otherwise they'll no longer be allowed to travel legally. They applicant's personal details can be checked against that from Form AN to ensure they match.

So what's the purpose of all these 'security checks'?
