IHS fee required for a UK born child where Parents on ILR?

Post by agentunited » Fri Nov 13, 2015 11:54 am

Hi,

I plan to apply ILE application for my daughter next week. Both of us got ILR couple of weeks back but she was born in UK last Nov but currently in India. In this case, should I pay IHS surcharge of £600 even though she was born in UK and currently eligible to register as British Citizen?

I plan to register her as UK citizen upon her arrival to UK, in case if I have pay the surcharge can I apply for partial refund once I get her British passport? Kindly advise me as I'm applying ILE early next week. Many thanks!

Kind regards,
Shaan.

Hi Vinny, do you suggest to pay IHS surcharge? It's crazy that she is eligible to register as a British Citizen but still making us pay for IHS :(

Hi agentunited,

Have you applied ILE for your child? Did you happen to pay the IHS or not?

Also, I am planning to apply this week and I am just wondering if I need to provide an original bank statement (to prove maintenance) that is not older than 28 days. Please advise.

Thanks

Hi, sorry for getting late on this as I just returned from India, think it's too late for you.

To answer your query, there is no way we can bypass without paying IHS fee even if it's not applicable for settlement visa. If you have paid the IHS fee then not to worry, it's about to be refunded to your card when they process the application as below is the mail I got from UKVI officer. My application processed within 2 weeks and approved as well, so quick than I'd expected.

There is no maintenance fee strictly required for ILE as long as you in job but good to show some good savings. My savings acct statement was dated 1.5 months back when I'd submitted my application, that shouldn't be an issue to me as I used the same statement for my ILR application in UK on 30th Oct and my daughter's ILE application in India on 1st Dec as well.
