Maintenance

Post by Imran 1981 » Sun Sep 11, 2016 10:47 am

Dear Members,

I just have an issue with the 90 days maintenance requirement of £945.

I had £2,000 in my bank account on the morning of 1 September 2016. Around 10.00 am (1st September), I transferred £1,500 from my business account to my personal account. After few seconds, I then transferred £1,400 to my landlord. Assuming that when I transferred £1,500 to my personal account, my balance would be £3,500 and then less £1,400, my balance would be £2,100.

The problem is since both transfers were within seconds (even though £1,500 was the first one), the bank's statement is showing

balance on 1 September £2,000
less 1 September landlord £1,400 (taking my balance to £600)
add 1 September internal Transfer £1,500
Total balance 1 September ££2,100.

I spoke to the bank and they said that since both transactions only had a difference of seconds the bank's software has picked the expense of £1,400 first rather than credit of £1,500. My day end balance is above £945, which is £2,100

Could you please let me know that I have breached my maintenance requirements?

Thanks very much in advance

Imran

Hi Imran,

As per my knowledge what your bank said was right - on your bank statement it will display end balance of that particular day so your end balance on that particular day was 2,100. You haven't breached maintenance requirement

Hi,

My friend had the same issue and he requested a letter from the bank to confirm he had more than 945 balance for more than 90 days and it fulfilled home office requirement.

You need to request the same by visiting the branch they will probably say no but you can speak to the manager and it should not be any problem to get this letter.

Hope this helps

Thanks Irana.

Just wondering what are the requirements?

Do we need to show £945 and this should be maintained at the end of each day or each second? How will the Homeoffice look at this?

Thanks
Imran

The at least £945 must be maintained consecutively for 90 days, without break. Any shortage by any amount below the £945 will break the number of days already acquired.

Thanks Babaty2.

I agree that the funds needs to be kept for consecutive 90 days period but if you count days then the funds were maintained at the each day. Its just a point during the day that it is showing the funds dropped due to the error of the bank.

The rules do not explain how they do this but I assume they consider the 'closing balance' of each day

Dear Imran 1981.

I had exactly the same problem 3 months back as you have. I would suggest you 2 options

1) If you are banking with barcl*** (I am also banking with this bank) Please go to the kiosk in branch and print your statement for the period you had a problem. The kiosk print the transaction as chronologically and you will see that you balance is exactly how you were calculating. Then ask then bank to stamp that bank statement.

2) Get a letter from the bank that since it is the bank's policy to show debit transactions first and credit transaction later in whole days banking, the credit transactions done in the morning may show after the debit transactions.

If you see your personal bank statement, you will realise that balance may not show after every transaction, rather it is being shown at the end of the day.

I opted option 1 (My local branch did not co-operate any made excuses to stamp so I went to Canary Wharf and they did the job without hesitation)

I got my visa extended last week (Tier 1 entrepreneur)

Simple statement of fact.

And repeated pleas of "Any update any update" is not a solution.
Anyway this OP is asking for a solution, s/he is not offering one.

Stop hassling members.
- member in question is evidently busy and not visited for 2 weeks.
If s/he has an update no doubt s/he will update in own time.
