Medium of Instruction format and points to be considered...

Post by Reshma » Wed Mar 21, 2007 4:52 am

I think this post will be useful for many.
Good if this can be made sticky.

Medium of Instruction.

Please make sure that all the below mentioned things are addressed in your Medium of Instruction Certificate...

1. Get this certificate for your graduation (bachelor's degree) course and not for any other degree (post graduation or higher)
2. It has to be on an official letter header from the awarding institution.
3. It should contain the candidate's name.
4. The name of the degree obtained.
5. The date of award
6. The course was taught in English.
7. Certificate should say that the degree was 'Awarded', 'Granted' or 'Conferred'.
8. Contact details of the awarding body.
If the letter head is containing the complete address and contact details of the University, it is fine.
Otherwise…
the letter body should contain the address..
9 Seal (Seal of University or of the official issuing the certificate)
10. Signature of the official issuing the certificate.
11. Designation of the official issuing the certificate.
12. It is good if the name and contact details of the official who issues the certificate is present in the certificate.

Sample copy...

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

His Register Number (ID) in the Univeristy was <Reg No.>.

I the undersigned confirm that the above facts are true and correct to the best of my knowledge and belief.

My comment about this letter is that you mention,

I the undersigned confirm that the above facts are true to the best of my knowledge and belief"

this is contradictory.

Fact is alwways true. If you belief something, in your mind it still might not be true.

Reshma,

One thing..

What my university told me is that if the letter is given in a University Letterhead then they do not normally stamp the letter. They generally provide the seal when the letter is issued in plain paper.

Did you get your NARIC letter?

Thanks

OK...
The stamp is not mandatory but get it if possible.
Better read the last page of hsmp guidelines...

NARIC Letter is not mandatory if you have done a proper graduation course. I didn't attach NARIC letter while applying. Mine was approved.

Hi reshma,

I am getting the univ letter (madras univ) from their letter head.

It looks madra univ has a pre defined medium of instruction certificate , which means they can fill the certificate with my particulars and give me.

what they cant do is give me a letter with the content that i require.

but anyways the certificate that they issue has,

1) Course
2) college name
3) year of passing
4) a sentence at the middle of certificate reads as "the course was taught in ENGLISH"
5) signed n seal of univ

Someone who got this letter from madras univ, pls tel whether ths worked out for hsmp approval?

@ikon1400

I would suggest you to try for another letter as per the spec or...
Try IELTS.

Hear from others too.

If I might suggest you all. Learn from this case

http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=15460
This person is even doing muvch better thanm you could provide.

Do not take risk, because they could still use wording of your letter as a basis fpr rejection.
take ILETS test. get IELTS of 6.0 is a pieace of cake.

If you can get the letter as per the spec (see the first post), there is no need of going for IELTS.
Get the letter only for your graduation course (not for your post graduation.)

I didn't appear for IELTS.
MY HSMP application is approved.
Same is the case with majority of the people.

Hi all,
I am due for HSMP extension in coming Dec

My University (Anna University, Chennai India) has given me the letter for medium of instruction in my bachelor degree.

It has all necessary contents and seal

But I am not satisfied with the paper on which they have printed. They are having a template for this, they are just printing that in Plain paper and putting seal and signing and giving to us.

I asked for Original letter head , But they told that this is the paper they give for all, for this purpose and they cant print on any other paper

That printed paper do contains University emblem, University address, University seal & date. But that is not looking like letter head since everything was printed in Plain paper.

I am more worried about this. Does anybody submitted Letter from University like me?

Application Refused

Post by VKap » Sun Jul 08, 2007 7:53 am

Hi,

I would appreciate any suggestions pls..

My application was refused as the letter i had provided did not have date of award.

I had drafted a letter initially which uni disapproved and gave me a standard letter just to confirm medium of instruction was English. To cover that up I enclosed original Bachelor Degree Certificate, Academic Transcripts and a Provisional certificate and submitted the application. But I guess it didn’t help.

Do you think there is any point in putting a review in?

Please advice,

Thanks

Hi All,

I have one query; hope you guys will help me.
I had passed my Bsc in 2001, but I collected my degree in 2003 Form University.
My final mark sheets contain the issued date of 2001 and my degree contains the issued date of 2003.
Now I am confused what date should I mentioned on my “Medium of Instruction certificate “
Or should I not mentioned this details...Because it’s confusing

Thanks in advance

Hari15,
Did you get approval based on the letter issued by Anna Univeristy on plain pager ?. Why I am asking you is even I got similar letter from Madurai Kamaraj University. The white paper contains Unviersity emblem, address, seal and date.

Thanks & Regards

I was also asked for a Certification of English as the Medium of Instruction.
I already asked for the certificate from where I graduated (college) from.
My question is, can I also request for the certificate from where I am working (school) now?
Do you think it will be helpful?
