UK NARIC B! level

Post by ns8008 » Wed Mar 07, 2018 8:10 am

Hi all,

I'll be really grateful if someone can clarify this for me. I've searched the forum and everywhere else, however I was unable to find an answer.

I'll be applying for a tier 2 general visa, and my question is regarding English language.

Since, my IELTS UKVI expired before I could apply for my visa, I got a UK NARIC certificate instead(Visa and nationality services-Red route)

From what I've been seeing, everyone get a C1 level for English on their UKNARIC certificate, however, I only got a B1.

My degree is also comparable/equivalent to a UK Bachelor's(hons) Degree.

Since, the gov.uk only gives CEFR level for SELT that is B1. Can someone please throw some light on what level of CEFR is required for UK NARIC to be acceptable. Is it the same B1 or it needs to be C1.

Anyone with similar experience? I've read through the Tier 2 immigration guidlines pdf. It only says, degree taught in English and assessed by UKNARIC.

Thanks

PS: I've a valid simple IELTS Academic, with band 8.5(CEFR C2)

If you are applying for entry clearance or further leave to remain under the Tier 2 (General)
category, you must have a level of English equivalent to level B1 or above of the Council of
Europe’s Common European Framework for Language Learning. The only exceptions to
this requirement is if:
• you are applying for leave to remain and you currently have, or you were last given,
permission to stay in Tier 2 (General) under the rules in place before 6 April 2011 and
you have not been granted leave to remain in any other routes, or entry clearance or
leave to enter in any route, since the grant of leave; you must have a level of English
equivalent to level A1 or above of the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework
for Language Learning, or
• you may be exempted from sitting some components of an English language test on the
basis of a disability, see paragraph 157.
• you qualify under the transitional arrangements detailed in paragraph 165 below.

Point 146 here.
