Child's BRP card expired - Travel need

Post by sudhakar2222 » Thu May 24, 2018 9:05 am

Hello,

My child is on ILR and the biometric card expired on this january. Thought of applying citizenship, so not applied for a replacement card.

But now there is a need of travel in august month to our home country. when i checked timelines, even for British passport or replacement card, the general processing times are more than 3 months (from other posts).

I applied for citizenship now, if we take a letter from school as evidence of continuity in the country. Will the immigration allowed him into the country back.

Can anyone pls share their thoughts, so that we need to plan our travel.

Thx

If you apply using the online form and submitting via NCS or NDRS, then approvals are fairly quick 1 to 2 months at the moment. You can also apply jointly for citizenship and passport.

Child will lose their Indian citizenship though and you will need an e-visa or OCI.

I do, thx for the response.

But can you share your thoughts on my original query (I will apply but in case the passport delayed or so), can we travel with my original query assumption.

do you foresee any risk there?

thx

The problem you will have is getting on a plane. Easy to explain at the border when you get to the UK.

I have gone through british-citizenship/british-citizenship ... 45440.html

It seems through online, we cannot apply for citizenship and passport both at the same time. In that case i fear whether the citizenship/naturalization certificate is valid with home country passport is valid to come back to UK?

If i understand your previous post correctly, after getting citizenship need to apply for british passport and after that we have to travel, am i right?

You can apply using joint citizenship/passport service. Not sure what has made you believe you cannot.

No, a Registration certificate is just a piece of paper and not a travel document.

sorry to confuse

in your other post you have responded as below (copied your post from there)

""""You cannot use the online form if you want to apply for citizenship and passport at the same time which can also only be done through NCS. You will need to complete thr paper form AN and the passport form to do this."""""

so in this case, i can apply only through NCS as online form cant eligible for citizenship and passport at the same time.

I thought online applications only quick, so even NCS route also have significant shorter times (1 to 2 months time currently)?

Thx

Passport form has to be the paper form if applying jointly for citizenship and passport.

Useful also to read the more recent posts as that post I made was from December last year and the system has changed a bit since then.

Hello CRO1,

I have applied british passport for my child, thanks for your help.

After receiving red passport, can we do travel to India with expired indian passport. I believe, in UK airport we will show our red passport for verification and not sure whether indian authorities allow with expired indian passport.

While we are back to UK, anyway we will show our red passport in immigration check.

Because to apply OCI, it is taking 4-6 weeks time. So pls also help in answering teh solution.

Thx
