Criminal Record Certificate - UK Tier 2 General VISA

Hello,

I am going to apply for UK Tier 2 General visa. Got a job offer from an engineering firm. Previously I stayed in USA for 1.5 years and now staying in India. Do i need to get a criminal record certificate for applying in UK VISA, since I stayed in USA for more than one year in last 10 years? Please help me out. Thanks in advance.
