Next citizenship ceremonies will be in Spring 2020

Post by Stanina » Tue Dec 24, 2019 1:22 pm

It looks like immigration website was updated, next ceremonies will be in Spring 2020. Previously it was said by the department beginning of the the year. According to immigration website:

"The next day of citizenship ceremonies is scheduled for Spring 2020. Details will be published here when confirmed.'

Is it mandatory to attend a citizenship ceremony? If so, when did that start - a recent requirement? That's tough for some of us who are not in Europe.

This applies to those applying for naturalisation as an Irish citizen after a period of residence in Ireland and not FBR registration apllications.

Spring can be considered early in the year if it is March or Maybe they meant spring by Celtic Calendar, then it can be in February. ;)

:) I spoke to a lovely lady from the helpline who said the next one is in March. Didn’t mention the date but she said they were really doing their level best to clear the backlog.

What they mean by ‘several ceremonies’ is having two or three ceremonies on the same day- the 10-ish am batch = 1st ceremony and the 1-2ish pm = 2nd ceremony.

Agreed. Hypocrisy at its peak. All lies and no clarity from INIS about anything. I ve already lost my trust in them.

Friend of mine has received an approval letter and request for a payment of the fee 07 Jan '20.
Does anyone has a (statistically proven) guess of when a next ceremony may be arranged?

No guesswork can prove it statistically. It will be based on when department wants and when it is logistically possible. Could be anytime between March and May.
Can you share your friends timeline

Can anyone who recently received their approval and request for €950 tell us if there was a deadline to send it within the letter?

When I received mine in late November it said I had to submit within 2 weeks "to be considered for the next ceremony". (I did but still didn't get invited to December).

Also, their are reports of an imminent general election. I imagine if that's true we may see further ceremony delays.

I received this reply from team 23 :| in November.
I wonder if it means anything at all about a guaranteed approval or when I should expect it.. but there will be at-least 3 ceremonies this year.

“Thank you for your email, please be advised your application is at an
advanced stage of processing, this office does not currently require any
further information or documentation from you at this time. While it is not
possible to give an exact time frame, this office will be in touch as soon
as a decision has been reached.

If successful you will receive an approval letter from this office and then
an invitation to a ceremony, you will be given at least four weeks notice
before attendance is required, please be advised there are at least 3
Ceremonies planned for 2020, the dates of which have not yet been
finalised.

Kind Regards
Citizenship Helpdesk
Team 23.”

Hi SouthAfricanNomad

Can you please let me know when did you send your application? I've sent mine last August. The latest letter received was that my application have been moved to stage 2. Since then, no communication. Also, can you let me know their email address for a follow up? Thank you!!!

If they meant 10 business days, they’d clearly state that.

If you’re in Ireland, could you not submit the things they want from another county?

Guessing you’re probably away from Ireland if you asked. :)

Sending everything within 10 days doesn’t guarantee you a spot for the ceremony. I know several people who sent the docs on time but still didn’t make it to the ceremony (previous year)
