Child Born in UK

Post by bjornbarreto » Thu Jan 14, 2021 12:40 pm

Hi there,

Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

My baby was born in the UK and is less than 2 months old and we have applied for her British passport.

Meanwhile her mother is on an Indian passport with a UK visa and I (her dad) has a UK passport along with an OCI.

Both mum and kid want to travel to India and stay there for 6 months.

My question is

Assuming the kid will get her British passport soon. Does she require an Indian OCI or can she travel on her mums passport to India?

Thanks

Every individual, irrespective of their age or minority, requires travel documents in their own name in the modern age.

The concept of traveling on their mother's (or other parent's) passport has long passed.
