9 days! I'm an expectant parent and just sent my application on Thursday (9th June). My baby is due on the 19th November.

Unfortunately I didn't read this forum beforehand and, although I left a very clear note at the front of my application, I didn't leave a note on the envelope!

Is it likely mine will just get stuck in a pile of unopened envelopes now? I think I'll send an email in a couple of weeks to explain my situation further and pray for a resolution before November.
Personally I would not delay contacting them via email/phone, FBR/Passport service to either that will respond explaining the situation. Without the note on front of envelope it will just be stuck in the pile.
They have confirmed on 15th June that my application was received, which means they must have opened the envelope and must have seen my note about being an expectant parent, as this was at the front of my application and very clearly displayed.

I've just emailed the 'urgent' address and requested confirmation that my application has been expedited.

No guarantee it’s been opened. Your application number was on the front of the envelope.

TBH the staff have my sympathy. From articles I have read, they are under immense pressure to train new staff and come to work when they are sick with COVID. It sounds a horrible environment to work in.

The buck has to stop with the folk in charge. I want my Irish citizenship but not at the expense of stressed, underpaid workers being forced to work in crap conditions.
Of course, it falls ro management. Totally agree.
Also, how ironic is it (if true) that Ireland had such a long shutdown to prevent the spread of Covid, and then to catchup on the backup that the quarentines and shutdown created, they are now sending employees sick with Covid into work. Madness, if true.

hey all,

checking in to ask a quick question about documents for irish grandparents. I ordered a copy of my grandparents' birth certificate and wedding certificate through the HSE online, and used the copies they sent me when I submitted my application. However, I do remember that those documents did not come with any sort of signature on the back verifying them as true copies of the originals. Is this going to be an issue? I know the FBR asks for the documents to be "certified as true copies", usually with a stamp or something. I believe I sent the receipt for the purchase of the two copies in with them when I submitted my app. Any advice is appreciated!

Don't worry about it, in bold writing at the bottom should be written Issued by (so and so) authorised officer.

You're definitely in the fun zone and hopefully you'll hear something very soon.

Out of curiosity, do you think there is anything about your application that might make it less straightforward? They always say that more complicated cases take longer (not that I've seen much evidence of this).

Wish to update my status as I just received my first response on my application for FBR.

Application generated: 6 Feb 2020

Application with documents received: 10 Feb 2020

Address check email: 22 Jun 2022 Team 2

My confirmation that my request was received per my USPS tracking. Never got any confirmation from Ireland which had me concerned.

Today I am an Irish happy camper. Exhilarating!

This blog had been so beneficial to temper anxiety and expectations along the way. Kudos to all who have a hand in the blog. Good luck to all. Im hoping the final stages go quickly so I can tackle the passport.

Thanks, I guess I'm seeing a lot of people who applied after me having been contacted so it's hard to understand the order or how they are processed.

Actually Im pretty sure my grandmother's birth wasn't registered, (we're talking around 1925) so I cannot find a record of her when looking online. She doesn't have an official birth certificate but she has a baptism certificate and a certificate from the county she was born in which states her birth wasn't registered and an approximation of the date. I provided all these documents that were required as they were listed in the fbr document list, but I think the document eligibilty list has been updated and doesn't mention these documents now. That is a concern if the documents I sent 30 months ago are not correlated to the requirements back then and not the current version.

I reckon this is a factor holding it up, I don't think it will ultimately affect your outcome (I have seen several others with similar problems, and even searches confirming/proving that no record exists in some cases), but they have said numerous times that rigorous checking is needed and I suppose proving this is much more time consuming than validating a regular birth certificate

I am surprised that we haven't seen this much more on the forum, considering some applications are much more straightforward than others etc

Glad to hear this, I put my application in around the same time and have never received anything from Ireland. Like you I tracked the my documents to the point of delivery - then the trail went cold!
Hopefully I will hear something before too long

The info on here has been helpful so I’ll just add mine for others waiting patiently:
Application sent Jan 2020
Address confirmation email 19 May 2022
No final email yet
So it does appear it’s going to be longer than the three weeks others had.
Congratulations email today 23 June 2022
