Spouse visa extension

Post by AlexWN » Sun May 21, 2023 7:50 am

Hi all I’m back. And I need some guidance here.
My first extension is due soon and I am gathering information:
I’m on unamrried/spouse visa (valid from 11/01/2021) and it will expire on 08/08/2023.

I have a few questions;

1. What is the earliest date I can apply?
2. What is the application process? I’m thinking to apply for super priority service- I presumed a lot has changed now since my last visa application in 2020.
3. Am I still required to pay for ihs surcharge fee?- I work as an nursing associate in a care home.
4. I earn 50k per year is this sufficient without my partner’s employment?
5. What are the requirements this time round?

Thanks
Your help will be highly appreciated.

I can still apply using super priority service?

Yes, if the service is available based on ukvi capacity. Not everyone will get rhe option.
Do I still have to pay for ihs surcharge fee?
Yes, you have to pay the ihs otherwise you cannot proceed with the application.

You pay and claim back if eligible. You can only claim back in 6 month blocks.

Silly question,

Can I submit the application online now then book for premium service on the exact 28 days before visa expires? I’m not sure if that is possible. I’m trying to be cautious in getting a slot reservation.

Technically, it's possible. It's an extension FLR so you can apply at anytime. Key factors you need to think of would be;
When did you first enter the UK on your spouse visa?
If visa is issued to early, would it create a shortfall in 2.5 years?

So it's up to you how you want to play it. Not sure what the hurry is anyways?
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!

I’m not rushing, it’s a matter of getting an earlier appointment and end up with later one.
Will it give me an options what service I would like to go for though?- for example super priority service?

I received my biometric card today, but the valid date was different from the approval email they initially sent me. On email it’s 2026 but in BRP 2024

A simple Google search or the little pamphlet that comes with the BRP's usually would have explained as does the forum where this question is answered almost daily.

https://www.gov.uk/biometric-residence- ... rt-problem
If your BRP expires on 31 December 2024
You do not need to tell UKVI if your BRP expires on 31 December 2024 but your immigration status (for example, your visa) allows you to stay longer.

You will not need a BRP from 1 January 2025. You’ll be able to prove your immigration status online, without a BRP.

UKVI will update their information on how to prove your immigration status in early 2024. You do not need to do anything and your immigration status will not be affected.
