British Citizenship process for my Daughter born in the UK

Post by RaviVayyala » Wed Aug 09, 2023 3:50 pm

Hello Experts,

Have a query about the British Citizenship process for my Daughter born in the UK.

Main applicant(Parent) got my ILR in August 2023, My Daughter was born in the UK in May 2022, she is currently on Skilled worker dependent visa with Indian Passport.

Can I apply for a naturalization and British Passport directly for my Daughter now?
or
Does she need to go through ILR process and wait for 1 year and then Naturalization and British Passport?

Can you kindly advise on the above?

Thanks,
Ravi

Children are registered as British. Adults are naturalised.

Yes you can apply to register her as British now on form MN1, she has an entitlement to registers. She does not need ILR.

Once her registration is approved,l and you have received the certificate, then you can apply for a British passport.

Note that she will automatically lose her Indian citizenship once she becomes British.
