It is always worth carrying, but not normally showing, a photocopy of the EU citizens passport info page and of your marriage certificate.

Showing the actual Residence Card usually works...if you are not returning with your spouse, some evidence of a joint household would be helpful to carry with you to immigration.

Thanks all for reply,
I would like to ask if somebody in this forum has an experience traveling alone from no EU country to Ireland and could share his experience with the members of this forum.
Thank you

What do you mean by no EU country?

I've never had any questions asked when I travel between Ireland and the US or Ireland and the rest of the EU. I show them my US passport, open to the page with the GNIB stamp and present my GNIB. I've never had a spot of bother. The only time I was 'challenged' was during a layover between NY and Heathrow, with a connection between Heathrow and Cork. The guy asked me a couple of questions about my residence in Ireland, the nationality of my spouse and then wished me a pleasant safe flight back to Cork. End of story. To be clear, though, I don't have a re-entry visa in my US passport--just the GNIB stamp with the 'permission to remain until X'.

sideshowsue, What passport are you travelling on? And are you white? Passport and skin colour can make a big difference.

I totally agree with your point that passport and skin colour make a big difference. I don't condone it at all. For the record, I am white and hold an American passport so this goes a long way to explain why I have had virtually no issue when travelling in and out of the EU.
