urgent maintaenace fund query

Post by daisy80 » Sun Feb 21, 2010 3:05 pm

hi all,

I am applying for tier1 general this week,

are fixed deposits in uk are accepted as maintainance fund proof.

i had asked hsbc branch
to provide the bank statement for fixed depoist account .

They provided the printout on letterhead but refuse to sign/stamp.

will this be accepted by case worker,

i have the original fixed depoist letter when i opened it.

is this fine for the proof.

For maintenance, the funds should be instantly accessible.

FDs by the very name imply they are locked away for a certain period like 2yr or 5yr & you incur a fee to terminate the deposit. (~90days interest)

So, I don't think this is a valid source for maintenance. (unless the FD is maturing close to the application date).

Hi,

Guys please could advise if fixed depoist are accepted.

my fd expires on 31 march and bank mentioned the amount is in cash and will be avaliable to you.
I would be applying tomm as in person.

Can you get this in writing from the bank? Better get a generic letter from bank stating that the money can be liquidated, as and when you require! Then this can be used as a proof!
