I'm 30 now, and turning 31 in a few months.
I have always wanted to move to the UK on a working holiday, but held off - wanting to build my experience to maximise my time in the UK.
This has all gone to plan, I've got plenty of savings, I feel good about my employability etc, except there is one issue:
in 2009 I got pulled over with an expired license and registration.
Long story short: I was stupid and forgot.
Medium story: (see *below, there was zero criminal intent)
Now, its been my dream for about a decade to go to the UK, so I want to do EVERYTHING to maximise my chances.
Plus there is a good chance my SO will move with me.
So the summary charges are:
Driving without registration and insurance (2 charges?)
Driving without a license
Consequences:
Went to court
2 days disqualified license
$300 fine.
ANY advice would be fantastic. I rang up the UK immigration office - there was not a whole lot they could tell me.
What Im really after is someone to say:
"I was in a similar situation, and this happened"
or
"Maybe do A or B to increase your chances"
etc
Thanks!
*Combination of factors including I stopped driving for a few months, I missed the letter, and I was working 70-90 hours a week. I had plenty of coin, I just plain forgot. Then randomly jumped in the car to drop a mate off after indoor soccer.
