ILR Basic Questions

Post by man4uni » Sat Nov 12, 2011 9:42 pm

Hi All,

I have gone through this forum which is really amazing and helpful.

Hope someone can help me too... I will jot down my questions which will help you guys understand in helping me :)

My entry clearance details.

Visa = 3rd Jan 2008
Visa Validity = 3rd Jan 2010
Entry into the UK = 24th Feb 2008
Visa Extension Valid until = 3rd Jan 2013

Q-1: Can I apply for ILR in Nov / Dec 2012 ? (According to the 3 months prior thing)

Q-2: My wife and kid joined me in April 2008 for the first time in the UK, Can I apply for them at the sametime as Mine ?

Q-3: How much is the fees for ILR for the primary applicant and dependent per passport ?

Q-4: Is there a checklist of the documents for ILR ?

Q-5: Does the main applicant has to write Life in the UK test only or the spouse too ?

Q-6: There is a condition for main applicant not to be out of the UK for more than 180 days and 90 days in a row. Is there any condition for dependents as well ?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi sushdmehta!

Appreciate your prompt reply!

But still my questions Q-3 and Q-5 remained UN-answered. Or is it something I have missed :(

Cheers once again!

@ Man4uni
Download the application from UKBA site, you will find answers for both
Q3 - Depends on the category - its on the form
Q5 - As far as I know all dependent over 18 years and the main applicant must pass Life in the UK test or equivalent

Thank you so much Rahim for responding...

I really appreciate people responding and trying to help here in this forum.

You are absolutely right that almost all the answers are there in the Form Set [O]

However still the only confusing thing is Can I apply 3 months prior ??

If anyone can confirm it that will be very much appreciated! Else I am planning to give a quick call to Home Office ?

Please do not send us your application more than 28 days before you become eligible to apply. If you do, we may refuse your application with no refund of the application fee (if a fee is charged for your application type). However, you must make your application before your current permission to stay in the UK expires.''

you can apply in dec2012only

Hi Ayesha,

Thank you for your help.

Yeah! I am NOT going to send my application more than 28 days prior.

However I was just trying to do some home-work and getting mentally prepared, like do I have to apply for ILR [SET O form] or do I have to look for an extension :? :? :?

Thanks once again!
