No I did not provided any supporting documents. Just wrote a decent email requesting them to look for possibility of expediting the application as my wife wants to join her family to see her mother who is not keeping well.

I suspect the applications are dated 6 months ahead, on arrival and get processed when that date gets close.

This way they keep within the 95% processed within 6 months!

Shame when minimum standards become the target rather than trying to do better!

I'm re-reading my messages, and I honestly can't see why would you think otherwise
I posted days ago that we would love to go back ASAP, because my hubby's grandmother is feeling poor and he hasn't seen her since Sept 2009. She also had no chance to see our twins yet. So, I asked for email address in case that we don't hear anything from HO back in few weeks time and may try our luck by kindly asking them to speed up the process...

The situation has really started to freak me out, I decided to write a letter of expediting yesterday, I guess there is no harm trying and can only hope it helps!

My advice is not to freak out if the delay is so long. Many of us are in the same position! I suspect they have just not got round to looking at the applications!

I doubt an email requesting an application be expedited will get you any where. The UKBA clearly feel untouchable and hide behind the poor service standards (which should be minimum standards).

I suggest we all email a letter of complaint to the UKBA complaints address once the passports are safely back in your hands. Copy it to the immigration minister and your MP. These complaints need to be processed and only if the numbers are too great will things change.

I expect higher standards when I pay £1500 to the government.

SORRY, my mistake! I don't know what I read that registered the wrong idea about VN in my head. Maybe because I've been reading the forum like crazy, felt liek it could somehow help.

I have been a silence reader since I sent mine SET(O) application form, which was on the 5th/DEC/2011. I am so happy that I received mine passport back on the 08/02/2012. second class sent by HO.

These were my timelines:

SET (O) application sent: 05/12/2011.
Acknowledgement Letter date: 07/12/2011.
Money taken date: 13/12/2011.
stamped date: 01/02/2012.
passport received: 08/02/2012.

I guess I did not have any gaps in between visas.(did not go for SAR, due to insufficient time).

I have been following you for a while and find the info very usefull. My wife has been waiting for her ilr set m since 4/11/2011. UKBA is so slow it defies belief!!!
Does anyone have an email address for ukba to ask to expedite application?

O yeah - tell me about that again!!! What do you mean by "if no gaps in between visas?" is there ever a gap in between visas? Don't we all renew our visas before it expires? If there's a gap you simply become an over stayer & illegal with no chance of extending your visa again at least in the UK.

I think you should count yourself extremely & extra-ordinarilly lucky to get you passport back within 2 months. You talked about criminal conviction also - I've never been stopped by the police let alone know where a court is in my over 5 years in the UK. I have only been out of UK for 7 days (including departure & arrival dates) in 5 years. So when you talk about straight forward application I think I have one of the straightest application yet I have still not received my passport back in almost 5 months now so just count yourself really really lucky okay?
