Received my wife and kid's passports today with ILR each separately.

Took 4 days less than 6 months overall.

I am very thankful to this forum and wish good luck to all those who are still patiently waiting...

I believe if you call the 0870 number there is some recorded information on how long it takes to get your documents back once you've requested them. I seem to remember it was something like 3 weeks but I could be wrong..I didn't pay much attention to that bit. I think it would be very risky to try to get back into the country without a valid visa...you would be at the mercy of the immigration officer there on the day and you can't know how that will go.[/quote]

I sympathise with you, but I would advice you, to wait, do not withdraw your application, as you may regret it, you may never know, they may return your docs in time for you to travel with your in-laws. If you do not get it, please wait, it is worth the wait, you can make as much trips as you wish after receiving it, you've been waiting ages for it, a few more months won't harm you, do you agree with me??????

Thanks guys for the help. Oct2011 you're right, it takes up to 20 days once you've put in a request to have your docs returned! Unbelievable. Yep have told my in laws my passport situation over Easter and they're upset that I won't be travelling with them but understanding ... so it's wait for the 6 months.

Hi there - I applied at the very end of February 2012, and got a little bit of news today, which is that my application 'target date' is the end of this month, which means i should get news end April, beginning May. Just putting this up here so that the people who applied around the same time as I did, have a little hope. Haven't received anything as of yet, but my details are being worked through, so hopefully yours are too.
Looks like the turnaround time for me should be about 9 or ten weeks if the info I got today is correct, my case couldn't have been more straight forward though. Fingers crossed people, fingers crossed. Good luck! xx

It is normally get a acknowledgment letter, but in my case I didn't get one.

Received my passport today 10-4-2012.

That's the mystery of the HO. My 6 months will be next Wednesday and still no idea when I will receive a response, even for a straight forward application. Even the agents I used has stopped responding to my emails.

Finally after 6 months, almost to the day, I got my ILR.

Dated 13th March, received 10th April! Who knows what they were doing with it for almost a month.

I'm curious girtbysea. Can you please look at the postal stamp to see where it's been posted from? My guess is that all the documents from Liverpool are returned to the Croydon office which first received them. The Croydon office are then responsible for mailing them back. It must be this process that is consuming so much time, though I'm sure they can do better than 3-4 weeks.

another disappointing week so far

Fed up with this waiting...

By the way, I think I mentioned that on 21st March, after asking for my MP to chase the BA for an answer, the MP said that his understanding was the the decision was about to be conveyed to us. Surprise, surprise, still nothing.

I asked my MP kindly to chase them again, and he emailed me back yesterday saying that the BA assured him that they are dealing with it on an urgent basis.

Well, I believe that "urgent" and "is about to be conveyed" has very different meaning to me and to them. I think we can stop waiting for another month, as I don't think we will get any good news.

Their turnaround became even worse recently, and I can't understand why.
