ILR, BC, passport, OCI/PIO costs

Post by InUkOnHsmp » Mon Aug 27, 2012 11:31 pm

Hi Forum,

I am planning to apply for myself and wifes ILR in December, will subsequently apply for my daughters BC. I need to start planning for covering the cost of this process, so far I have collected the following numbers from various websites:

ILR (premium service) main (1377) + dependent (689) = 2066
Daughter BC UKBA (551)+ NCS (25) = 576
Daughter Passport Passport cost (49) + PO service (8.75) = 58

So overall around 2700, does that look right or am I missing something?

I also need some advice on whether we should apply for an OCI card or a PIO card for her.

Regards

For child born in UK, parents after ILR can apply for child's BC through MN1 from. I think that's the case here..

@InUkOnHsmp:
Your cost estimates seems perfect to me.
and I think you can only apply for child's PIO card. For child's OCI card parents should be eligible for OCI, which you won't be untill you get BP.
Sorry can't find the link on HCL site where I read this but there are some information in these forum as well.

But I thought that's if the child is born after you have the ILR right? (may be I'm wrong)

Thanks for all the inputs guys.

Sojan, to the best of my knowledge, if a child is born in the UK and both the parents have ILR, he/she is eligible to register as a British citizen using form MN1.

I have never seen it mentioned that that child should be born AFTER the parents get ILR status.

Experts?

I also dont quite understand the difference between OCI and PIO cards and who needs which. Again experts?
