Sept 25th: Still waiting but suspect there may be extra delay as I requested passport back for emergency travel. That was sent out on 24/08/12 and another per-paid recorded delivery envelope sent in for response and return of documents. As only citizenship ceremony fee taken on 20/08, I am presuming I am approved. I wish I could hear this week.
Sept 28th: UPDATE. I just managed to get through to UKBA by phone and spoke to an incredibly helpful gentleman. Apparently my approval has been sent via diplomatic post to the US as I am currently resident there. The SAE (UK recorded) for the US that was sent on my behalf for documents was disregarded as they are not allowed to send documents through the normal post overseas. All US applications used to go through UK embassies until July 16th but when that changed, they didn't work out the kinks like asking for courier delivery but FedEx and UPS don't deliver to UK PO Boxes. I had my daughter send my application in from here in the UK.

Also, my request for a ceremony in the UK was disregarded as I am not resident in the UK even though I am in the UK now. Apparently I can email for approval to have the ceremony here but doubt I would get an answer before I have to return. Anyway, my citizenship is approved and for that I'm grateful.
