MP letter

Post by veejaysea » Mon Aug 12, 2013 9:39 am

ranadawood wrote:Hi veejaysea,

How long took your MP to respond and home office to your MP?

Would you mind to give some time line ?

Thanks

Hi ranadawood,

My timeline:

Application (HSMP/Tier 1) = 18 Jan 2013
Payment /confirmatoin = 21 Jan 2013
Biometrics done = 14 Feb 2013

So 6 months elapsed 22 Jul 2013. I contacted UKBA later on 24 Jul 2013, who said they were processing November applications.

I then emailed my MP the same day, then provided further information - MP contacted UKBA by 24 Jul 2013. UKBA response received from MP on 07 Aug 2013, then posted here.

No news yet, but will post here if I ever hear anything.

Still nothing

I just called the Home Office about the progress of my application, something I am doing every week. The lady told me that they are still processing Nov applications which contradicts the information provided below. If the target they achieved last year was more than 95% then this year's target appears to be less that 50%. What an improvement in performance from these people!!!

Re: Backlog and delay impacting job offer

Post by Saikripa » Mon Aug 12, 2013 10:54 am

Hi Icecold,

Thanks for your reply.
Just want to reconfirm from where you got reference that 'applications before one month of visa expiry', at the time of filling ILR application it was indicated one month before completion of 5 year stay and not one month of visa expiry. Not too sure if anything changed post Feb 2013 regarding application filling timelines.

New employer is looking forward to my ILR decision, so wanted to know if their is any other option to expedite my case. Please advice.

Regards

I am 08th Feb 2013 applicant for Set (O) Tier1 with two dependents. Biometric done on 7th March 2013.

My situation is I am getting job offer which help me both professionally and personal growth, but due to backlog with UKBA and delay in my application decision, my new employer has put my offer on hold.

Already spoken with MP two weeks back and he indicated that wait for 2 more months and contact in the month of October 2013 again. Same reply I got from Ombudsman to wait as there is backlog and there is delay in ILR applications.

Any other advices, how to expedite my case based on my situation. Employer is bit hesitant in providing offer letter as my existing visa expired in the month of June 2013 but per UKBA it impose no resitriction to work till submitted application decision is made.

Appreciate any advices/suggestions....
If your visa expired in June, you should have applied around May and not in Feb. There is now a good chance your application will be returned back as it states on their website you should not send applications before one month of visa expiry.
On another note, if you need your passport while your application is being processed, there is a provision of requesting your passport back without withdrawing from the process. But you cannot travel outside the country, its only for ID proof purposes.
Unfortunately I don't think UKBA really expedite anyone cases. Even the advertised family death/illness took them another month for my friend whom missed her sister's funeral.

Saying that, there are cases where pressure from Ombudsman worked or sometimes an upcoming flight ticket does the trick. However, I have tried MP, my workplace written to them as well, and my wife's (dependant) workplace was complaining as well which they only say I have to wait. I did however receive my documents back a month after getting in touch with MP, so not sure if it helps at all. I am a December applicant.

Emailed MP Today and fingers crossed I will hear something positive.. No complications I can think of. I had 105 points. And there were no dependants either. Part of my income was from full time employment and partly from working as an IT consultant through my own limited company. This is because I changed jobs in 2012. But I had this clearly set out in my cover letter so I have no idea what the delay is.

December 2012 hsmp/tier1 applicant

Post by jeeboo1046 » Tue Aug 13, 2013 10:35 am

Just finished calling home office now. How it happened
.......
Why r u calling, answer: for ilr enquiry.
When did u call last time: 1 week ago.
When did ur leave expire: January this year
Ur ref: nationality: which category u applied:
Date of birth: did u receive any enquiry letter from
Home office. I said no. Etc
Then after that the guy told me ur application
Is "" not complete".
I asked what does it mean, it has been given
To a visa officer or not. He replied, I can't say
Anything bcz it's the only info coming on the system.

I think they change words of reply every week to
Keep desperate callers in peace. They were saying "" in process"" 1month ago.
Then 3 weeks ago they started saying its with the "" processing team or
Working team"" and now they say it's "" not complete""
Yet. All of these replies have same meaning I.e. no one
Is looking at ur application. I just wonder what word
Or group of words will be used next week. Visa processing
May not have improved, but customer service is doing
Excellent work to keep us happy. I hope
For the improvement of visa service as well.

UKBA help desk, I believe can just lookup on the status of the application i.e approved/reject/under-consideration.

They are mainly there to help out with process of filling an application or clarifying the doubts you have when are filling.

I applied on 7th of December 2013, 2 Years HSMP (JR) + 3Years Tier 1 (General). It was my second that I called UKBA couple of days before. The person attended the phone was not in a very co-operative mood and replied to me with the same answer that I should wait. As I requested humbly that it’s been 7 and a half months now and I am in urgent need of my travel documents. He told me to hold the line for a while. After that he confirmed my Home Address and said that I am gonna hear from UKBA in the next 10 to 15 working days but it’s not guaranteed :) He used this sentence twice that it’s not confirmed and hopefully i will hear from UKBA in the next couple of weeks. Having my fingers crossed. Hopefully have some incoming news for December applicants in near future.

Best of Luck to all. Remember in your prayers and I will remember you in mine.

Kind Regards

Hello Everybody,

I called UKBA again yesterday. A lady picked up and answered me that "Your Application is outstanding and you still need to wait". I asked her to guide me if my application has been assigned to a case worker. She replied,"Yes, i can assure you that your application is with a case worker at the moment". I told her about my last call to UKBA 2 weeks before that somebody from their office told me that i should be contacted by home office in 10 to 15 days. She said that nobody from UKBA office is allowed to give any time frame to any applicant. After a wait of 8 months now, these kind of replies can easily increase your level of frustration. We can't do anything apart from wait and pray. Best of Luck to All.

My Combination was 2 years Tier 1 and 3 years Tier 2.

I had a job offer in hand, for which I approached my MP and she indicated that she has contacted UKBA and I need to wait till October Mid, After that I tried to contact UKBA several times but always got a static answer 'Not able to provide timelines'. After that I gave my complaint to Ombudsman, indicating that SLA is breached by UKBA and no one is providing me timelines on when the decision will be made and I am having offer in hand.

I approached my MP starting of June2013 and was told to wait till October Mid. But approached Ombudsman on 8th August where I provide all supporting docs related to job offer to support my case and got my all paperwork from UKBA on 17th August dated 15th August 2013. It was pretty fast.

I will vote to Ombudsman, NOT TO MY MP :)
