Daffodil11 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 07, 2025 12:27 amHi everyone,
I am in the process of applying for my naturalization.
1. I have a question regarding the question about previous immigration applications:
My previous applications include my ILR application, Tier 2, Tier 1 entrepreneur (extension) - varied to a Tier 2 visa application , tier 1 entrepreneur, Tier 4 student, and tourist visa applications. Only visa applications that ed to your eventual settlement.
If people could please specify which ones of these need to be included for this application, that would be great.
2. Can referees include registered alternative health professionals (e.g. a registered acupuncturist who has a private practice, and is registered with the British acupuncture council? and a registered psychotherapist - also registered with a professional body) None of these appear on the official list of accepted professions.
3. Does the referee's age matter, e.g. people in their 70s or 80s (they are still working professionals). Could this be viewed negatively? No
Thanks.

Hi there, thanks for your response, I have a follow up question. Would it suffice to just enter the ref number for my ILR application in that case (as it contains the other applications), and I don't want to overwhelm the case worker.
If not, do I have to give ref numbers for tier 2 (most recent), and tier 1 (these put together gave me the 5 years), or do i also have to include the ref number for the Tier 1 extension (that got varied to tier 2). From what I've seen on this forum, the applications to be included are those that were considered, and varied applications are not considered (as far as i know)

thanks for your reply... from what I've seen on the guidance it says the list is not exhaustive, and includes anyone registered with a recognized professional body. All these people are registered with recognized British professional bodies, so wondering if they count even if they're not on the list? or do we have to stick to the exact professions named on the list?
I am also wondering if it matters if someone's relationship with you is that they provided a service, for example if they were your healthcare provider?
thanks

I would enter from tier 1 onwards. You are asked to provide your details - do it and pay no mind to overwhelming the caseworker as you have been asked to provide these details.Daffodil11 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 08, 2025 1:32 amcontorted_svy wrote: ↑Fri Nov 07, 2025 8:23 amDaffodil11 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 07, 2025 12:27 amHi everyone,

Regarding referees, they do say that list is not exhaustive, but it is the only thing we have to go off of - I can't say for sure that the referees you provided will.be accepted. You are of course welcome to interpret their instructions differently. The relationship to you absolutely does not matter. My best friend was one of the referees and my application was accepted.

Daffodil11 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 09, 2025 2:04 amThank you all very much for your replies. I have just submitted my application! ahh fingers crossed!
I have a question regarding the proof of 5 years residency requirement and the requirement for passports.
1. Are they asking for all passports for the past 5 years? or since the beginning of the ILR period, ie 6 years. Only 5 years
2. Also, does the passport fulfill the requirement of proof of continued residence (as mine are always stamped when I enter or exit the UK). Yes passport is enough.
3. The only issue with my passport could be that I had a longer stay overseas during COVID (just short of 6 months), but this was outside of the last 5 years, so I didn't include it (my solicitor included an explanation for it in their cover letter for my ILR), if this is visible on my older passport, could it cause issues, as I didn't include/explain it. No as it is before your qualifying period.
4. My other question is about the referee form... my referees are not so tech savvy, so is it better to upload a digital photo and then print it for them to sign and scan it, or better to get a paper photograph (to avoid graininess from printing/re-scanning)? they don't need to sign the photograph. If it's easier for them, print the form having added the picture to it digitally and scan it after they physically sign it.
thanks
Daffodil11 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 09, 2025 2:19 amOh also does the degree certificate (mine is American) and the uknaric certificate need to be notarized? (i used both for my ILR application)
thank you all!

alterhase58 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 09, 2025 8:14 pmIf you have a spare passport photo great.
But don’t overthink this. This is only for the referee form. Take the best selfie you can.
You will be photographed officially at the biometrics appointment.
