Promise of Employment from Friend's Business?

my husband is a UK citizen and I am a US citizen. we are returning to the UK from NYC. Does anyone have experience with follow-up on employment letters? my husband can get a letter from a friend offering employment. is there a follow-up on that job after we enter the country? thank you, Lisa

Is it a genuine employment offer?

In addition to CR001's question....has your husband been earning the equivalent of £18,600 per annum in the US in the 6 months prior to submitting your settlement visa application and have a confirmed job offer to start within 3 months of arrival, again with a minimum annual salary of £18,600?
If not, he would need to be employed for at least 6 months in the UK, with pro-rata £18,600 annual income before applying for you to join him. That's assuming you don't have £62,500 in savings held in an accessible account for 6 months prior to submitting the visa application.

Yes, he has a full-time job here in the US, $60,000 per year, for 7 years. The friend's business could write a promise of employment on paper, but not "for real". our immigration lawyer in the uk told us we could do this and she would process the paperwork. insights welcome.

Submitting false evidence is likely to come back to bite you further down the line and I'm surprised that any reputable legal professional would advise you to do so. ECO's are wise to all the ruses.

I would absolutely steer clear of submitting any documentation that is not authentic, HO take a very dim view on false documents/statements etc (which is in effect what you/solicitor are proposing).

UKVI do checks and for a visa submitted in the USA, I believe it is processed in Sheffield, so a cheap phone call too for verification etc.

It isn't a very difficult application to make, provided all your paper is correct, accurate and true. Don't see the need for a solicitor to be honest.

Yes, sack your lawyer and report her for the benefit of anyone else who might engage her.
