proof of funds

Post by RachelKeim » Sun Aug 24, 2008 12:06 am

if the sponsor is not rich and doesnt have a lot of money (<£500) in assets. when applying for a spouse visa (non eu), how much money does the applicant have to prove she has? ie $10,000.

I am not relying on my sponsor to prove he has funds. I want to demonstrate I have money as the applicant to support myself. I would like to know in exact numbers, how much the applicant needs to prove she has in order to be approved for the spouse visa. I will be using my own financial statements to prove I have funds to support myself.

If it is a dependent visa, then the sponsor has to show his/her ability to support, that's why their called the sponsor.
What kind of visa is this exactly?

Not quite true. It's a spouse visa and there should simply be an ability to provide support and accommodation without recourse to public funds. The sponsor could actually be living in her/his parents home.

Your weekly disposable income for a couple should be somewhere in the region of JobSeekers Allowance/Income Support at the couple rate just to be on the safe side. YOu can google the current rate under social security benefits.

If the sponsor (settled partner) has a consistently low income then a job offer letter for the applicant would also help.
Oh, the drama...!
