Endorsement letter author credentials

Post by Katte » Tue Aug 04, 2020 6:42 pm

Hi there,

What else other than a CV would count towards endorsement author credentials? My endorsing referees are exec level who mostly haven't updated their CV's in many years and would probably not be all that keen to do it anytime soon.

Thanks in advance
Mike

Some advice needed regarding my personal statement

Post by Katte » Tue Aug 04, 2020 10:19 pm

Hi there,

I have read that the Tech Nation reviewers don't particularly like consulting so I have wondered whether I should remove that work experience from my CV. I won't put that in my personal statement in fear of being outright rejected but I have worked as an architect at a products company called xxxxx for just over 5 years from 2013 to 2018 and in the last couple of years I have designed and implemented products for our company's clients as well as what 'could' technically be considered consultation.
I need to word this as even though I am a contractor, I am actually building a product platform with the client and not just 'consulting'. I am actually soon moving over to this client directly for a 6 month contract to continue the work. I have also built a rather damn nice product which has not gone live yet thanks to some 3rd party timelines and Covid-19 but not even sure whether I should mention it :/

This personal statement thing is getting to me as I don't really know what landmines I might be dropping but I believe I have what it takes to qualify since the stuff I've done was quite advanced (micro services, process automation, AI). I am also just a bit afraid about the title I've held for the last 9 or so years as when people hear 'architect', many think it is an ancient Greek word for 'he who cannot code anymore'

Any tips would be most welcome!

Proof of work a employee in leading digital field

Post by Katte » Tue Aug 18, 2020 1:40 am

Hi friends,

In order to prove that one can claim having been an employee working in a leading digital field, it is stated as an example that a patent could be provided as evidence of the 'leading digital field' part.

My case perhaps a little more tricky as I have worked for over 5 years for a digital product company with several patents and a widely renowned product often featuring in the Gartner magic quadrant. I have worked on almost the entire product so one could say that I do check the tick boxes for the digital field but I am not actually the inventor of any of the patents.

Can I provide some of the patents as examples that cover areas that I have designed and implemented features and changes to the product or how would you guys/girls suggest I go about this?

Are there any other evidence that I could also provide other than patents?

Cheers
Michael

Hi Michael, perhaps the inventor of the patent (where you worked on almost the entire product) can provide you with a letter of support, covering examples of your contribution that cover the areas of your design? And then you could further corroborate it with your features (product flows, codes, diagrams etc.), that you designed and implemented and attach it as an additional supporting evidence to this letter to show your individual contribution. Just a thought, worth exploring.
