Question regarding joint correspondence

Post by s0nicyouth » Wed Nov 04, 2020 2:32 pm

Hi all,

I'm about to switch over to spouse visa from my current Tier 2 General visa in November.
My wife is a British citizen and we meet all the requirements but there is one paragraph I find confusing in the list of the required documents. Specifically it's
"You must provide at least 6 items of correspondence, addressed to you and your partner jointly or in both your names. The dates of the items of correspondence should be spread evenly over the whole 2 years."
The problem is that we'd lived in Russia for 7 years before moving to the UK and when we moved we'd lived in a hotel for 4 months rented by my employer before we moved to the proper flat. We don't have any correspondence to our names jointly from Russia(and any correspondence from Russia actually as we did everything electronically and it's in Russian) and have just one letter from the hotel mentioning us both for those 4 months. We have however 2 letters from council addressed to us jointly for the 3 months we've lived in our current flat.
So my question is could it be a problem for getting an approval for a visa and what can we do to maximise the chances of approval.

Thanks a lot.

Initial switching into spouse visa/flrm doesn't require 2 years of cohabitation despite the application form. Ideally attach a covering letter highlight this issue, so that caseworker might not ask these erroneously.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.
