Report Problem with New BRP

Post by anub2016 » Fri Mar 18, 2016 10:59 am

Can someone please advise on what is the 'Report Problem with your new BRP' used for?

They advise to get back to the applicant within 5 working days. What exactly do they do if someone reports a problem with the 'Length or Conditions of Stay' on the BRP using this form. Is it same as an Administrative Review? And would it have any adverse effect on the applicant's visa?

Following is the link for this service -

There does not appear to be a problem with your BRP. Do you not trust the advice provided in your other thread.

http://www.immigrationboards.com/uk-tie ... l#p1322866

Reporting a problem is NOT the same as AR.

Your visa has been issued in line with your CoS, so what exactly do you think is wrong and could potentially be a problem.

My apologies CR001. This was not intended for me. I completely trust this forum and rely on the advise provided here. I asked this on behalf of a friend who has got his BRP wrongly printed but wasn't sure if this is the right form to use.

I really appreciate your quick replies. Thank You very much.

The BRP says 'Leave to Enter' and the Valid Until Date does not match to the Decision Letter.
Not sure if 'Leave to Enter' is correct and whether or not it should be 'Leave to Remain'.

It was not an extension to be precise. It was a fresh application from outside the UK.

Applications from OUTSIDE the UK are Leave to Enter visas.

Applications made INSIDE the UK are Leave to Remain visas.

You cannot apply for Leave to Remain or visa extensions from abroad.

His BRP is therefore correct and not sure why you/he thinks it is wrong.

What is the valid till date? What are the dates of his CoS?

I am not sure of the exact dates, but he mentioned that the dates on his decision/approval letter do not match with those printed on the BRP.

Hi CR001, my friend did not disclose the actual dates to me but he mentioned that the End Date on the Decision/Approval letter is not the same as the Expiry Date printed on the BRP.
But he is wary of reporting this problem using the Online form assuming this may result in the flagging up of his BRP and cause issue with the ILR application at a later stage.

So, does this process leave any such adverse mark on someone's BRP?

Without know the two different dates, it is impossible for anyone to answer your question.

Ok, after much persuasion, the date on the Decision letter is '20 April 2021' and that on the BRP is '16 April 2021'.

Please advise if reporting this would cause an issue for him.

Are you kidding me????

Your 'friend' wants to go through the whole process of sending BRP and passport in to HO to query an difference of 4 days and hope for a correction!!

Most Tier 2 General migrants end up switching jobs, then the end date won't mean much.

He can also apply for ILR within 28 days of visa issue date or date of entry. The 4 days is not going to make any difference to this.

Does the online form for reporting problems with the BRP require the migrant to send the BRP and Passport to HO? You mentioned in your previous reply that it is not the same as Administrative Review. Just to clarify, I am talking about the form at the following link -

https://www.gov.uk/biometric-residence- ... rt-problem

Also, please clarify if it causes a negative flagging up of the migrant's BRP.

In my friend's case, won't it be wrong to carry the incorrect dates on his BRP for the complete duration as this is the only legal proof of leave in the UK?

I think you need to ask your friend to register and post for himself. 4 days is so insignificant it's not worth asking for it to be amended as Char has already very clearly explained.

I completely understand your point Casa, but some people just don't want to get online at all, and that too for a query or two and so, he asked me to get it clarified for him. I have always followed this forum very thoroughly and trust the advice posted here.

Then the advice is, tell him to leave the BRP as it is, it won't make any difference.

Generally asking, for the benefit of others as well, does this process by any chance, cause a negative flagging up of the applicant's BRP card number which may be referred to a later stage and cause issues?

No but most people won't even bother for a 4 day difference.
