Re: Tier 2 to Ancestry

Your father should look into registering as British on form UKM, born before 1st January 1983 to a British born mother. Costs £80. Is this just a general comment, or does (or would) it have bearing on my situation/visa or passport options? It is useful as I wasn't aware of this before, but just che...

Re: Tier 2 to Ancestry

Section 3C doesn't apply then if your visa expires in 2022. Most visa forms now ask for the last 10 year visa history and if you have been to a country. You won't be able to input this if applying in the UK for your current period of residence. Note also that your clock for ilr will reset to zero w...

Re: Tier 2 to Ancestry

Good day, I am currently working in the UK on a Tier 2 (General) visa, however I'm eligible for an ancestry visa. After a long process I've finally managed to obtain all my documents so am ready to apply. I understand that I cannot apply for this visa within the UK and will need to apply from South...

Birth Certificates

Hi, I'm currently collating documents for an ancestry visa (based on my gran being born in the UK). I'm South African. We've finally received my father's unabridged birth certificate however the details on it are inaccurate and incomplete. They have not included my gran's ID number and her date of b...

Submitting Original Documents

Apologies if this is covered in another thread, but I can't find an answer using the search function. When submitting documents as part of a visa application (ancestry, so marriage certificates for example), are these required to be the originals or do copies/certified coppies suffice? I had seen an...

Re: Tier2/Ancestry Switch?

Thank you, I'm not sure what the code would be but imagine it would be 2421 (as I'm a chartered accountant and the job is as an auditor). One further question - in terms of "full birth certificates", are "unabridged certificates" generally accepted as part of ancestry applications or is it required ...

Re: Tier2/Ancestry Switch?

Thank you for the comprehensive response. I'm not too fussed about the job as it is essentially the same job that I'm currently pursuing but just a change in employers. Regarding "switching" - would it be possible to return to South Africa prior to the expiry of my Tier 2 visa to apply for the ances...

Tier2/Ancestry Switch?

I currently have an offer from a company that will provide sponsorship for a tier 2 visa however I do meet the criteria for an ancestry visa. I would prefer to go across on an ancestry visa however I need to wait for my home country to issue full birth certificates which generally takes between six ...
