Re: Passport Card Travel

If you need a visa to travel to the UK on your non-EU passport, you need to apply for one. Otherwise the airline will not allow you to board the plane, even if you have an Irish passport card. This is not true. Timatic , the IATA system used by airlines to check travel documents' validity for a fli...

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

WebChat told me on 08/08/2022 that applications from the UK are currently taking 8 to 13 weeks from the date that supporting documents are received, by which it became clear that he actually meant the date that the status changes to verifying documents. My passport was issued the next day, as can be...

I will be using Bankers Draft for my certificate fee when the time comes. That's for sure.
You pay the €950 certificate fee online by card. So at least I got some credit card points for this hefty amount, but unfortunately not as any points as with American Express which they don't accept.

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

I cannot see a date next to my 'processing application' mark. It just shows the current days date. So yesterday it showed yesterdays date, today it shows todays date etc. Yes, the last status change date always shows the current day's date. It's clearly a bug in the system. You won't see the date t...

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

I applied via FBR from the UK. Funny that WebChat told you its not relevant, as I have just come off WebChat and one of the staff told me that applicants living in Ireland and applying through naturalisation have much quicker applications that FBR from abroad. Can't quite understand the logic, as a...

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

Been requested to send my original passport for my application 5 days after estimation due date, as it seems the certified copy of the passport which I sent, was not accepted, my application passed the verify documents status stage and it was on Process doc status. This is quite strange as there ar...

Re: Citizenship Certificate by post - do you need to be at home?

My naturalisation certificate was sent to the UK by An Post registered post, and the Royal Mail just dropped it in my letterbox, having obtained one signature from the concierge for all the signed-for deliveries in my building that day.

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

At the moment, it appears that passports typically get printed 4 - 6 weeks after the estimated issue date. The DFA say the passport backlog is reducing but the wait times betray that. Plenty of first time passports have recently been printed only a few days after the status changed to processing an...

At the moment, it appears that passports typically get printed 4 - 6 weeks after the estimated issue date. The DFA say the passport backlog is reducing but the wait times betray that. If that's the case, then why did they reduce the advertised turnaround time from 30 to 25 working days in June? And...

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

My application has been 'In Processing' since 04/07. Have just been told it's done nothing since then other than sit in a queue waiting to be allocated to someone. So frustrating. It would be much better if they managed people's expectations by being honest about current processing times. It will s...

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

What you have to remember is that the estimated issue date is just that...an estimate. There is a high volume of applications at the moment, and the timelines they advertise are those which are anticipated but are not always achievable. My query is not so much about the estimated issue date, which ...

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

An Post delivered my supporting documents to the Passport Service on 27/05/2022. At that time, the Passport Service stated at https://www.dfa.ie/passports/turnaround-times/ that the turnaround time for " First time applicants " was " 30 Working Days ", which it subsequently reduced a couple of weeks...

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

I'm in the UK and applied based on an Irish born mother (no FBR). My passport was printed 5 weeks after the estimated issue date. Think that's pretty standard at the moment (on here I have been chatting with people in the US, Canada and Ireland and it seems to be the same for them too). I can under...

The application form asks first for the mother's postal address and second for the father's postal address. Where parents live at different addresses, to which address will the Department of Justice send correspondence?

Re: Passport Application Discussion 2022

I was told via live chat today that first time applications from the UK are running 4-6 weeks behind their estimated issue date. Is this because passport applications from the UK are handled by Balbriggan as opposed to Dublin? When I posted my documents to Balbriggan at the end of May, both An Post...
