it depends on your MP some are helpful some are not.In My case i tried he inquired UKBA but was told i have to still wait caseworker will be allocated shortly its now 8 months waiting on spouse visa.
it seem this delays are normal i had my application on 23rd Sept 2011 up to now nothing they just tell me the application is in process.just have to wait i suppose.
