You will have to select OTHER > OTHER > ROA to see that option. Yes the child nationality will be British when filling the form. For some reason that number 0845 601 5549 is not working any more.
When you rang that number, were you on hold for ages? I have been trying this number all day today but no joy. It was working fine but now all of a sudden when you dial that number it says "This number is temp out of order"

Who has countersigned your application?
They usually contact the Countersignee to verify the identity of your child.
Chances are that there is a letter waiting which needs to be responded.

You can take a punt by going to one of public PEO in person appointment and applying for it, you never know, the caseworker may grant you ILR.

One of my friend was in the same situation and he applied at Liverpool PEO and was granted ILR successfully but it's just a risk.

Depends on which country they were born in.
As an example, if born in India, then the child will be Indian national.
