So to be sure I understand correctly, HO asks me to be in the country for 6 years (5 + 1) but then only counts my trips for only the last 5 years ignoring the first year. Is this correct? That is correct. Do you reckon that a lawyer could help a lot here or is it just down to me writing a good lett...

Agreed, PCNs don't have the same standing/relevance as FPNs. PCNs don't result in a criminal record or any points on the driving licence and (unlike FPNs) don't need to be declared. Also see here.

Re: Question 2.1

This implies that i should use the date when I got my HSMP and not the student visa date as back when I was a student which does not necessarily mean I arrived in UK with a view of staying on a long term basis or does it? It does not depend on your intentions when you first entered the UK. When I s...

it would cause my papers to be late ? such as some lack of papers? That is one possible explanation out of many. if so they should have confirm me should not they? Yes and no. Unlike for naturalisation applications (which cost a lot of money), the Home Office will simply refuse PR applications (whi...

Oh okay, thanks for the info. That is how I got mine as well, but I recently heard of two who claimed that they got the sticker in their passports, so I was confused.

Re: naturalization for EEA national

Which documents shall I then present? Is it enough to submit the permanent residence document and show that I lived in the UK for an ad...

Sure: nationality caseworkers instructions manu...

Hi I have got CU 80 and 3 points in September 2011 for driving while using a mobile phone. Did not have to go to court. Sent my licence by post and also paid the fine by phone the very next day. I know that a number of people have gone through with the ILR with CU 80. I would be applying after 13th...

I have got 3 points on my licence in September 2011 for using mobile phone while driving. I paid the fine of £60 by credit card over the phone and surrendered my licence at a Police Station within 7 days. I received the licence back with a CU80 endorsement. I did not have to go to court. I will be ...

From what I understand this insurance is needed only if you want your student years to be counted in order to get permanent residency in the UK. Correct. In the eyes of the Home Office, a person doesn't exercise EU reaty rights as a student without comprehensive sickness insurance. Which is, at lea...

Re: Some queries for the NCS appointment on Monday morning ?

Is it one or 2 photographs?? One, on the references page. For the later passport application you will need two photos. Do photos need to be attested - if yes , self attested or by referees ?? So to speak - on the page your two references have to fill out (page 12 of form AN), they have to attest th...

Are you sure it is discretionary? I don't read it as such from the Immigration Rules (...) The word "must" does not appear to leave much room for discretion. Yes, as per the caseworkes instructions manual: "Caseworkers should normally refuse an individual who has an unspent conviction, however ther...

Re: When to surrender Indian Passport?

1 Not quite correct. There is a three months period the Indian Government allows to continue travelling on Indian passport (see here for a nice and concise summary, especially section 3). So the correct answer would be "3: within three months of becoming a British Citizen". Since getting your first...

I was today at the test center to do the test. But when I registered on-line I did`t put my middle name (not mandatory field). Even in t&c does`t say that if you have middle name you have to put it in. Test supervisor told me that I can`t do the test because of missing middle name. So I`m about to ...

Does that mean I have a conviction??, and should I mention this in the application form for citizenship? Yes, I am afraid so. You pleaded guilty before the court in Dumfries to this offence and have been convicted in absentia. This conviction will be unspent for a period of 5 years. So it must be m...
