I know one single female non EU worker in Ireland who has adopted her sisters infant of six months old, and the child has Irish citizenship because the adoptive mum has been here long enough. She has left the infant with her sister in her home country, as she does not want to pay for childcare here...

Re: Form AN: Section 1: Q. 1.7 Maiden name?

Are we expected to provide the maiden FULL name in answer to Q. 1.7? Of course the last name and middle name is now different (husband's surname and first name respectively), but the First name (both before and after marriage is still the same) . I think you should definitely write your whole name ...

The letter you mention should have arrived within 2 weeks of the "approval" letter. It might be worth contacting your council to tell them the problem. They have more...

Re: Naturalisation: Received letter from council but not UKB

I received a letter from my council inviting me to a citizenship ceremony in about 3 weeks' time but I didn't receive a letter from Home Office (UKBA) and I was advised that I cannot attend the ceremony without the letter. I emailed 'FurtherNationalityEnquiries@ukba.gsi.gov.uk' but didn't get a rep...

Re: Knowledge of language for naturalisation

If I apply and get UK NARIC's English Language Assessment for my bachelors done in India , to prove my English standard is CEFR Level C1, is this okay to apply for naturalization as I have already got Life in the UK. My guess is that only the HO can answer this kind of question. This thing hasn't b...

Re: Request of documents while the application is decided

My only concern is not to invalidate de application (to be considered us withdrawn) if I request the passport. Not many applicants seem to have this issue. There is no need to worry about that. I haven't read anything (except on this forum) that says you can't get documents back without withdrawing...

Re: Request of documents while the application is decided

Apparently it take 20days to get the documet/s back, therefore I need to hurry. Unfortunately I have only found out about this forum today. It seems quite helpful however I did not seem to be able to find a contact number for UKBA. 20 days is a conservative estimate! They also told us to wait 20 da...

Re: Request of documents while the application is decided

Will the application be invalidated should I ask for the passport back while the application is in process? As far as I read the request isn't recommended. On another had they also say that 'only the document holder can request the document back, unless it is a withdrawal of an application in which...

Good point. If the HO letter is lost, there is still the problem of getting a replacement. But the OP was worried about the impossibility of finding out whether a HO letter has even been sent.

That's just because the passport form instructions are very badly written. The fact is that grandparents' details are not needed in these cases.
