I don't know that there are any non 0870 numbers that you can call them on nowadays, you could try using your mobile phone although obviously it will cost you extra. One other lady I spoke with at the HO this morning told me that they cannot take appointments for 4 years ILR on HSMP, I assume she is...

Just tried to book an appointment myself. They did tell me about the £1020 + £50 for each dependent fee as well. Unfortunately there are no appointment slots anywhere (this was shortly after 10 this morning). I was advised that I could try again tomorrow but to do so at 9.00 am as they go quickly....

Does he qualify for a tier1 visa? I know it is tough finding a new job especially one that will offer a workpermit but having a plan B is a sensible option, hopefully he will still be in his current job till August, but he should also try and explore other options.

take your approval letter and proof of finances. You may not be asked for anything except your passport with the tier1 visa, but just in case. You are probably more likely to be asked about your living arrangements in the UK, so make sure you have your intended UK address at hand

It maybe a good idea for your friend to speak to someone from his HR department. They may have more information or as to whether the staff will be kept on and for how long, while the Administrators decide on the future of the company.

It helps if you were still employed in the UK during this 7 month absence. Were you, even if you were on unpaid leave? I say this because I had a 5 month absence but my application for ILR was turned down because I was not in UK employment at the time of the absence, I was advised to submit a postal...

I think the child should be able to apply for dependant status from within the UK since he was born in the UK. After all newborn babies are not required to go to the country of their parent's birth before they can aquire dependant visas. That being said, it is probably unnecessary though as the UK b...

Hi azu1z, I am so sorry to hear of your situation, I pray God's help for you and your family. You should certainly pursue legal act...

the poster mentioned that he got his LTR in the UK, thus his qualifying date starts on the 13/02/04. Date of first entry to the UK is not relevant here since he was already in the UK.

If your daughter will be studying a degree level course, an application for a student visa should not be refused on the grounds that she may not return. It is written in the guidance to the entry clearance officers (a quick google or search on this board should lead you to this document) that a pers...

Since you obviously have enough points to qualify and if you have time left on your current visa, I think you should reappy, making sure to go through the guidance and provide exactly the documents they require in the exact manner they require. It can seem ridiculous but remember that caseworkers te...

I believe you stand a 50:50 chance of getting a tier1 visa approved with a strong covering letter. I say this based on personal circumstances, Home office staff do have the power to excercise discretion and they sometimes do. Ultimately it is up to you to decide what to do however, and it may be fai...

If you can, get a lawyer to do up some kind of legal document signed by the father saying you have sole responsibility for the child's upbringing. You also should show enough funds to support yourself and the child. (the contract for the job you are going to, which I assume shows the expected salary...

£250 for a broker is money well spent as they often can arrange deals with banks which would turn you away if you showed up in their offices on your own. Reputable brokers won't charge you until you have actually completed your house purchase.
