Re: Schengen confusion

Yes, this is confusing about schengen visas. How long is the validity of the visa for? The duration of stay on the visa is usually for a 180 day period. So 15 days per 180 days in this case. Standard practice says that they do not issue these visas with validities longer than 6 months in any case. S...

Re: Obtaining Residency Card for EU Citizen Family Member UR

No, she does not need to apply for any visa beforehand. Just enter as a normal tourist and then apply for the residence card. You should get some document proving that you have applied for the residence card which will exempt you from the 90/180 rule. I don't know what this document will be in Spain...

Re: Non-EU Spouse Visa Refused by portuguese consulate Pls H

Sorry that your spouse is facing this issue. You could try and escalate the matter within the Portuguese Consulate. Perhaps the people who you spoke to just are not well informed about this issue or perhaps there is some kind of diplomatic snubbing going on here at the cost of regular people (the UK...

Re: Traveling with valid RC

Should be fine. You have a right of entry based upon your marriage. The issue is always how to convince airline authorities of this since they do not believe in the directives and just refer to the timaticweb database. So for airline officer - old passport with RC should work. Passport control - Wel...

Re: Complicated Circumstances

6 days is very very less. They normally ask for at least 10 working days to process a visa (the law says they are allowed 15 days to make a decision..). I don't know the details of the appointment system but the law says that spouses of EU citizens should be granted visas for free and with an accele...

Re: Complicated Circumstances

This is not very complicated at all. There are several cultures that do not change their names after marriage. The information from the schengenvisainfo website is wrong. You do not need to submit bank statements or hotel reservations as the spouse of an EU national. All you need to show is: - Proof...

Re: Looking for examples of recent EEA Family Permit refusal

Bravo! Great initiative! I know this doesn't count but I was supposed to go to the UK for some work for a few months. I filled in the EEA form online, the dates to submit the application were 1+ month in the future in 3 locations (different countries!) that I checked. Plus, two locations only had Tu...

EEA Confusion - Visit visa/or what else?

I am an Indian national, married to a Portuguese citizen (we've been together 6 years and married for one and a half). We live in Chile. Part 1: Now, in September I need to visit the UK (we will be going there together) for some business development work for my company. I am formally employed by the...

Skip VFS and apply directly at the embassy. You should get it in 24 hours or around that much for sure.

Re: Short duration visa issued - What now?

Thanks for your reply. Yes the visa is multi entry but duration of stay is listed as 35 days. I agree that it doesn't make sense since I am entitled to 90 days just like my EU spouse as long as we're together (which we will be..). I'm well aware that this is my right as the spouse of an EU citizen. ...

Short duration visa issued - What now?

Okay, so now here's a little pickle. I'm the spouse of an EU citizen, planning to visit family in Europe. I applied for a Schengen visa for 35 days (16th Aug - 19th Sep) and received exactly that from the Embassy of Italy in Santiago, Chile. But... they set the visa validity until 16th FEB 2015! (I ...

Re: Urgent: Query on Schengen visa

You don't need another visa if your Schengen visa is printed without any exceptions (does it say "Valid only for Greece" ?). I don't understand why you're asking here if you still want to double check with the consulate. Just do that if it gives you peace of mind. As far as anyone here is concerned,...

Re: Spouse of EU citizen travelling to Malta - Questions

Regarding return tickets, airlines *mostly* ask for return ticket reservations when you are entering a country with visa on arrival or visa free entry. The schengen countries are extremely strict about visas in general and therefore airlines on most occasions just assume that this person will not be...

Re: Spouse of EU citizen travelling to Malta - Questions

Re: Non EEA Citizen Joining EU Citizen

Congratulations on making the decision to get hitched :) (well, in a way) I don't know about marriage/partnership in Moldova. Regarding residence permits in the EU, your partner would need to get a Schengen visa. Then you both enter the country and start the process of residency for him. Usually thi...

Re: Best EU Country to relocate!

This is a very vague question. Best country for what ? One man's paradise is another man's hell. I like Portugal. Fair weather, beautiful beaches, relaxed lifestyle, relatively low cost of living, but then, the job market is bad if you're looking for employment - salaries are terrible. If you're sel...

Thanks, I'll definitely hit you up for details if we do finally move to Berlin, those plans are on hold now due to some personal circumstances. Re: German & South African spouse moving from UK to Germany

I'm pretty sure that's not true. Non-EU spouses of EU citizens may apply for a residence card once they have entered on a tourist visa (it's called an entry visa for spouses but looks the same..). The documentation that may have confused you is that in some places it mentions that people who don't n...

Re: Residence in the spouse's country and national laws

Oh... :S That is a terrible story and I'm so sorry you have to go through something like that. EU law I *think* says that after 2 years (I might be wrong on this number..) of residence even if you get divorced, the non-EU spouse retains their right to live/work in the EU. This of course only applies...

This is a very difficult question that you are asking. I guess if we pool our resources on this forum together we can come up with good answers. There's no issue. Just submit both visa applications with a detailed itinerary. As long as they have return tickets from the UK, everything should be fine. You can even submit flight reservation info from the UK<->Switzerland for the schengen visa - if you've already booked them.

Once the visa is issued, you can use it for other trips. There's no issue as long as your initial application was in good faith. Enjoy your summer trips :)
