Hello
I am sponsoring my girlfriend on a tourist visa, my father is sponsoring with me too. When the officer looks at the sponsorship funds do they take into account only the money that is currently at both our accounts? Or do they calculate using a mixture of monthly income and savings and amount in account?
For example, i am going to put down £11000 total cost for her trip to the uk for 4 months and two weeks.
I have 1k currently in my account to show. I earn roughly £1,200 every month.
My dad has 2k currently in his account. Earns roughly £1,200 every month and he has 24k in a savings account.
Am I right in thinking that I should say I am contributing £1k and my father £10k? I am not sure if it is bases off monthly income or total in current account/savings.
Many thanks

Can anyone please advise on this? Struggling to work out what would be appropriate now that I am filling out the application.

You cannot use future funds that might be received.
It has to be funds available at the time of application and supporting documents must prove this.
Also, what evidence is your girlfriend submitting as ties to home country (social, finance, empyment, education, property etc)?

Great, thank you for the clarification. So I can only use the current funds at our bank accounts and the money in the savings account to cover the proposed cost of the trip.
My girlfriend lives with her parents at home and is unemployed. She is showing no finance documents, employment or property documents. Her ties to Thailand are that she cares for her mother who has a medical condition.

Have you met her in person??
UKVI will be interested to know who will look after her mother if your girlfriend comes to the UK for over 4 months, if she is using her care of mother with a medical condition as her strong tie to home county.
To be honest, with no job or income or anything other than her parents as ties to home country, she does risk a visa refusal, especially for a visit of over 4 months.

Yes, I met her in Thailand on holiday. I was with her for 6 months in Thailand in 2018 and she came to the UK for two months this year March - May. We presented the ties for her previous visa (her mothers condition) and her visa was granted for two months. Do you think this will not hold up for a 4 month visit? Her father also cares for her mother, she is not the sole carer of her mother.

Just to clear up the dates she came to UK March to May 2019?
I think you would struggle to get a 4 month visa as that would put her in the UK for 6 months or more in a 12 month period. Maybe another 2 month stay is likely to be better received?

Thank you for your reply. Is it a rule that you cannot be in UK for over 6 months in a year on separate visas or is just not looked fondly upon? I have sent the documents to my girlfriend now so I am really uncertain on what to do. I could change the dates and resend her the documents and make a new application online.

Many thanks, I will change it so that we have her old 2 month visit plus proposed 4 month visit so it comes to 6 months total for one year.

I know i need to cancel my online application and make a new one to reflect the dates. But do i also need to cancel my appointment? (is the appointment linked to any one application somehow) or should i just cancel the application and appointment and re-book to be safe.
